TGS News!

• Will be more story driven than previous games and have a new conversation system
• 100 enemies on a single map (Previous games had a max of 30)
• New special attack called "Maougis" that they didn't explain at all
• Revenge system that gives stat buffs to party members when one of them or their allies dies

The story involves a bad dude named Void Dark who is destroying Netherworlds. You spend most of the game recruiting Overlords from the affected realms and leading them against Void Dark.

Main Character is Kiria who is basically Adell but a demon. Uses Fists.

Etna stand in is Seraphine, the Overlord of Gorgeous Netherworld and a runaway. Uses Guns.

Flonne stand in is Usaria, the heir apparent to Rabbit Netherworld who loves peace. Uses Staves and has a giant yellow Prinny she can attack with.

I'm a bit disappointed the character models look pretty much the same, but that's Disgaea for you. Still stoked.

@sparky_buzzsaw: I'm fine with it, it still looks really nice. I definitely appreciated them moving to full HD character art in Disgaea 4 though.

I wish companies would stop announcing games I want to buy. 2015 is going to be fucking bananas.

It'll come to Vita eventually, we all know that :P

They've mentioned before that if it was only Japan they'd probably develop for handheld only the series. Or something along those lines.

Awesome. Maybe this will be the one to get me into the series.

Huh, possibly learning some lessons from Fire Emblem with the conversation option. I'll have to see how they execute on that but it's exciting for a series that's gotten a little stale.

@sparky_buzzsaw: I think the graphics are about at their peak for what I think a Disgaea game should look like.

I'm more concerned about the gameplay. I really liked Disgaea 4, but I don't think I'm ready for another incrimental update. I want the series to feel crazy and original again, like the first game did. They've made good additions to the series over the years, but they play it too safe.

@zeik: I didn't play D2 so I'm super ready for a new Disgaea.

@corruptedevil: I didn't either, now that you mention it. I kinda forgot that existed.

Yeah I was so pumped to hear this at TGS. This, Bloodborne, and Persona 5 are my 2015. Everything else is just gravy.
