Pre order bonuses! :( :)

So say you are a pretty girl (consumer) and this guy (Gamestop) who took you out on a date wanted to get in your pants but you think he's moving too fast and you just don't know what to do and you just need some convincing..... well here is some digital alcohol! Drink up and bend over Sally Mae!

Personally, I think in game bonuses take the challenge and fun out of playing, so I never use them... but that whale oil lamp....

I wonder where I can buy whale oil nowadays.... I guess I need to pay Japan a visit

i never thought i would need a whale oil lamp but........

Fudging stupid is not like you even need that stuff most games are not that hard , but I think is crap to spread all this junk instead of having it in the game, it always ends as DLC but also I don't need a white rat friend so I guess it doesn't really matter.... loot

Just put all that shit in the game and give it to everyone. Fuck you, retailers!

I'm gonna buy it digitally then steal three physical copies to show them who's the boss.

On one hand... eww. Hate that kind of bonus.

On the other, that lamp is fucking awesome, and I want it!

#6 Posted by ThePhantomStranger (353 posts) -

Pre-order bonuses would be fine if they were like that lamp...just a physical object that doesn't affect gameplay. I get it though, it's much easier to pimp out digital goods then physical goods...

Dat oil lamp....

Where are they selling these in the UK with the game!?

#8 Posted by Tennmuerti (7719 posts) -

Coming to PC?

Allright!

All retailer specific preorder bonuses in one game here I come.

Shit like this makes me want to cancel my pre-order. Fuck I hate this part of gaming.

Nice. Pages of features I'll never see

DUDE. We so NEED a whale oil lamp. I'm so fucking in.

#12 Posted by Cloudenvy (5890 posts) -

I don't know why but...I want that oil lamp so bad, and I'm not even interested in the game!

Only if that whale oil lamp harnesses the speed of USB 3.0.

So I preordered Dishonored..is there a special edition of dishonored or are the tarot cards included with the standard preordered.

I hate stuff that gives you buffs/advantages at the start of a new game. Probably won't redeem mine until after my first playthrough.

Hooray for chopping games up into tiny little pieces for the sake of marketing!

#18 Posted by believer258 (11032 posts) -

...all right, so that whale oil lamp is cool, but I've never pre-ordered a game so I could get the deluxe gadget that becomes useless half an hour in.

#19 Posted by AhmadMetallic (18955 posts) -

Haha damn this is pretty disgusting. You're giving damage boosts to ingame attacks and shit as exclusive pre-order bonuses?

like WHAT THE FUCK

#20 Posted by FancySoapsMan (5750 posts) -

The digital Pre-order bonuses don't seem that bad :\

most of them are just small in-game perks, nothing that would substantially change the core gameplay. Plus, it's not like you have to pay extra for them...

The Whale Oil Lamp looks sweet though. Might consider pre-ordering just for that.

The cards should be cool. I really like the ones that came with my copy of KoA:Reckoning, so hopefully these will be as good.

#22 Posted by eloj (483 posts) -

That's like four different statues to unlock as many extra perk slots. Wonder if you could actually use them all at the same time. The core game is six slots I believe, wonder if that's the max you can actually get without resorting to a code. In that case, that extra slot alone seems like a pretty good deal even if the perks you get aren't. I'm sure the perks will go out in a DLC pack sooner rather than later.

Whatever. I'm sure there someone will put out a trainer to unlock all that stuff.

Didn't they have like an iPhone case or something too?

I pre ordered from Amazon, I didn't even know I was getting something...seems alright

#25 Posted by BonOrbitz (2089 posts) -

I got the USB whale oil lamp from Best Buy. It's small, but it's bright with a nice LED blue color. I guess I have to get my own whale oil...

How come Steam doesn't get anything for in game?

Preordering from Steam nets a small discount and two TF2 items. Not what one would normally expect for a preorder bonus, but that's how Steam rolls these days.

To soothe this little ****-storm, let me say this: the pre-order bonuses might be unique, but their effects are so slight as to be forgettable....

I thought Patrick said that the bone charms were temporary bonuses? Are they?

No. Bone charms are like perks. You have a big list of charms available as you unlock them but can only have a limited number activated at once.

@louiedog: Ahhh, I get it. Thanks for clarifying. So pre-order bonuses basically mean you start with a couple unlocked instead of having to find them in the world.

Something like that, but all those things are ultimately useless, as there's so many ways to actually complete the game - many of which don't involve using any of those retarded pre-order bonuses.

This seems pretty ridiculous as a bonus... I mean, won't it encourage people not to experiment and change up their playstyle, since they have a freaking pre-order bonus to certain skills?
