Game Informer magazine Epic Mickey summary from Go Nintendo.

- Mickey's appearance is much, much closer to his original debut style
- Disney was the one to approach Spector
- Spector originally was against the idea of creating a Mickey game, because he said that he didn't do kids games
- Spector changed his mind when Disney said that they were looking for someone to 'reinvigorate' Mickey
- Disney had to get back the rights to Oswald before he could be used in this game
- the sorcerer Yensid creates a pen-and-paper world for his forgotten creations, which is where Oswald lives
- this world is similar to Walt Disney World
- Mickey enters this world through a magic mirror, and accidentally spills paint and paint thinner on the drawing of this world. Mickey escapes before Yensid finds out.
- The spill that Mickey caused ends up turning the drawing into a twisted version of what was originally created.
- the Phantom Blot ends up taking over this world
- many years later, after Mickey becomes successful, he re-enters the mirror and sees what has happened to the world. The Phantom Blot drags Mickey into the world, which is where your adventure begins

Oh yeah, the Game Informer website also put another new update up today showing a glimpse of level concepts and a tiny bit of 3D art.

Sounds ambitious. Not sure if i'm sold on the gameplay yet, but i want to see it before making any judgements. The game still seems very interesting.

I'm reading the GAF thread and drooling over people saying it looks amazing, I want to see :'(

I'm surprised how abstract the environments look in the screenshots, maybe it's just one area.  It reminds me of motortoon grand prix on PS1 (in style, not fidelity).

Finally saw it too. It doesn't look as good as I hoped for a hyped Mario "killer" but considering the scope of the game (from the information) it's still pretty solid. Some screenshots are impressive, others not so much, but if the world and characters are as interactive as the information hints, that's understandable. I like the first screenshot in the last page for example, which shows a good view of that area, then the screenshot that shows the statue (?) of that dragon, and a few others. It looks like Mickey's design varies in some screenshots too. Or maybe it's his poses. Some look great, but others weird (maybe intentionally crude retro style). They have more than enough time to polish everything and this is a very promising base with many good elements already, imo. I can't wait to see it in motion as the animation will make it more than anything else. Edit: Page 6 confirms Mickey's (and the world's) appearance changes according to how you play, so, yeah, that explains it. Good stuff!

It looks like a great-looking game from the one picture (GI cover) I have seen. I await my new issue coming for more info.

Whoa, I didn't know Warren Spector had a hand in this.
That guy has pretty grand visions without being Peter Molyneaux douchy about it.

This looks really interesting. So far its art style is kinda reminding me of Mushroom Men though. I have high hopes for this.

So after seeing the scans I am slightly less enthused over this game.  I mean it still sounds awesome, but I am not looking forward to it as much as before.

I didn't read the full article yet, but GoNintendo's summary may not be 100% accurate. It's just one dude writing stuff about what he read.

I wanted cel shading, but it seems they are going for the generic 3D artstyle.
 
Oh well. Even more mass market friendly I guess.

Also...graphics and art style don't look that impressive either.  It's still early, but so far, looks pretty generic.

This sounds like to could be awesome, and the graphic style they're using looks nice.  I'm really interested to see how things play out when playing as a "scrapper" Mickey versus a "hero" MIckey.

I'm liking what I'm reading. Hopefully this game turns out how I want it to.
