Like Mickey or not (sign me up for not), but I can't watch him in 3d. It's his ears. They ALWAYS face the camera. It's like they exist outside of this universe.
I'm only 2 minutes into the quick look and I can't focus on anything other than how his ears are at best theoretically part of our reality and can only be perceived from one vantage point.

Oswald the Rabbit and Mickey Mouse battle it out in Warren Spector's re-imagining of Walt Disney's universe in Epic Mickey.
I can't stop staring at his ears...
" You guys need to watch some classic Mickey cartoons. His ears have been doing that since, well, pretty much always. "He's right. They do it on purpose.
And you don't like Mickey?
" You guys need to watch some classic Mickey cartoons. His ears have been doing that since, well, pretty much always. "Holy fuck my brain just exploded.
" You guys need to watch some classic Mickey cartoons. His ears have been doing that since, well, pretty much always. I found it pretty cool that they put that in.It's OK until mickey does a turn with his polygonal head. It doesn't work nearly as well as the 2D cartoons.

This post. I'm not sure how I should feel about it.
Holy fuck my brain just exploded.
Yep, unless you're seeing Mickey in a costume at Disneyland or something, the ears are always facing you. WATCHING YOU
When I first noticed it watching the quick look, I actually smiled to myself, knowing that the people who made the game obviously cared and respected the character. Yet another game comes along that makes me wish I owned a Wii.
All well-designed and iconic cartoon characters can be be recognized in silhouette (hence Fry's bangs, Homer's two strands, Stewie's football shaped head, anime hair etc.), and Mickey Mouse without the ears fully visible is nothing but a lazy imitation of Mickey Mouse. And it would just look weird.
" @Entus said:I thought the effect looked great. It's OK until mickey does a turn with his polygonal head. It doesn't work nearly as well as the 2D cartoons. "I'll agree that there are some spots that look a little weird (especially when you focus on it), but overall it's actually very well done. "

I've hung out with people who worked for Disney Interactive and it was a major issue when they first started working with Mickey games (initially his ears were going to be spheres).

It's just bizarre watching the 3D geometry of his ears, more so than the flat ink drawings because I KNOW...if we could just move the camera we could see them on edge.
im so disappointed in developers. it's 20-fucking-10 and this shit is still happening?Lol, you dumb boy.
The ear swivel thing is in any a contract when using his likeness. No matter what if you use mickey in an animation or still images the outline of his ears must been visible at all times. Im sure if they could figure out a cost effective way to make the ears swivel on toys they would do it with that too. Its all part of the disney brand.
