I'm Guilty of Enjoyment
I do not like social games. I hate them. I'm the kind of guy who mutes everyone on XBL, PSN, and Steam...I hate playing with people. With that said, I love Guilty Party. It's one of the best social games I have played in years.
Gameplay
The game is played on an interactive game board, and can be played with up to four players (on a single Wiimote too!). Players take turns going around the board looking for clues, while partaking in minigames. The minigames while nothing too new, are fun and don't feel rushed in.
During a turn, the player is given a handful of tokens that let him/her go to a location and solve clues, and all of this is customizable in the pre-game settings so it's entirely up to the group on how they want to play.
During the turns, a mysterious Mr. Valentine will try to muck up the investigation and then the players will need to find ways around it. Be it group minigames, or just using a simple card to fix the situation.
What it comes down to is the following: move to location, talk to people, get clues, and repeat until you're ready to solve.
It's fun with a group, and as a solo adventure it's alright and pretty funny at times. A very solid social experience that doesn't put gameplay in the back.
Also keep in mind with multiplayer the games are always random so it's always a fresh new experience, which adds to the length of the game.
Controls
You just need a standard Wiimote, and just need one. K.I.S.S.
Graphics & Sound
Voice acting is great, and graphics have that Disney charm. It's good to look at and sounds great. Nothing wrong with it.
Overall
Taken for what it is, a party game...made for a group of players. It does a fantastic job. It's for all ages, and all types of people. The controls are dead simple and doesn't complicate with more than two buttons.
If you have kids, or friends who want to play games without killing their "pride" it's well worth it. Also great on dates, as I have found out.
Guilty Party is a great game, that does just what it states it will do. It also proves you can make games for kids without dumbing it down.
