FreeStyleGames' DJ Hero uses a turntable controller to bring Guitar Hero-like gameplay to more genres and styles of music.
Another Activision Employee Says “DJ Hero”
Today we get Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick looking mad uncomfortable on CNBC. After spending most of the interview talking up Activision's financial solvency amidst the economic apocalypse, he once again brings up DJ Hero, a product he describes as “a turntable that you can actually play competitively, spin discs and mix on,” and which he says will be coming out sometime this year.
I'm certainly intrigued, but you know what would be great? Some screenshots, maybe a sampling of involved artists, or, you know, any kind of information not gleaned off of dry-ass financial TV programming, Activision.

so you scratch ... left and right, following the beat
you raise or lower some things that practically don't modify the sound
(real DJs do that we attitude ... but i'm not ignorant, i know that if ends up making a difference to twik those stuff, but most of the time changing just one doesn't do anything to the people on the dansefloor)
At Amazon.com you can buy DJ for Dummies and an ION iCue DJ spinning interface for your computer, which will allow you to use ANY song you want for just $150. With options like that, a DJ Hero "game" seems pretty pointless to me.
Activision might as well just call the game DJ Hero 2009 because we all know it will be a yearly milked franchise. Unless they pull a Guitar Hero and add a "side" game ala GH: Aerosmith, Metallica etc.
I can just see it now. DJ Hero: FakeAssPoser, coming Q2 of 2010.
That cageyness is due to the Guru Josh Project's Infinity 2008 and Basshunter not yet being on the playlist...
I think the only way I'll remotely be interested in this is if I can import and remix my own tracks then upload them for other people (so they can be mixed with other tracks in the game or tracks generated by them). So basically a DJMMO.
Oh good god... I've really liked me some Guitar Hero over the years, but this is something like the final straw. I'm switching to Rock Band. Screw this stuff.
