FreeStyleGames' DJ Hero uses a turntable controller to bring Guitar Hero-like gameplay to more genres and styles of music.
Take A Look At The DJ Hero Controller
I think this idea sounds totally retarded (no offence to all retards out there). If they want to simulate, and make a game out of, beat-mixing songs into one another- they should think again, I have several DJ friends who have tried to get me into that sort of stuff but it just isn't my bag... I'd rather listen to songs than stress with a pair of headphones and cue-pause-cue-stop-start-hold the vinyl-not take requests-look at girls... Guh... And if they want to sort of simulate scratching: why are there buttons on the turntable? Where is the mixer/crossfade? Why would you want to do exactly the same scratches every time? Turntablism promotes creativity- not copying something by timing multi-colored blips going down a pole.... Try harder people!!!
After seeing and hearing bits and pieces I was pretty hyped for Scratch. They seemed to get the whole creativity side of things. This, not so much. I don't hold out a lot of hope for Activision doing anything other than trying to shoehorn guitar hero into a different peripheral.
I'm no Grandmaster Flash, but do you not need two decks to DJ? Otherwise you're just playing a record, or behaving like a kid at an 80s birthday party, scratching the shit out of your friend's parents' vinyl collection. Oh, those were the days.
Well technically you do not need 2 decks to learn to scratch. Turntableism (or something like that), would require two decks if you are also playing a tune to scratch to, or would "juggle" from one tune to the other, but I guess it can be done with another type of audioplayer that plays the tune you would scratch to. But I guess it would lower the selling aspect (and I guess handling of the game itself) of the machine since you would need to buy two for the "best experience". Oh and of course the mic comes with rockband, for the die hard fans that would actually buy this...
The idea for DJ Hero was already contrived when music games were still fresh. If it isn't Beatmania, I'm not interested. Even if it was, I don't think I would buy it. I can't see myself paying for the game and watching any sort of DLC roll out for it. I'm sure it'll sell millions and Wii owners will eat it up like a stack of pancakes. No thank you, Actiblizzion. The controller looks just as boring as the idea.
so the guitar hero cash machine is starting to get bled dry.
they are just taking guts from inside the guitars and putting them in a plastic case shaped like a turntable instead. and replace rock with rap and you have a new money machine that the sheep can bah to
@Chromo:
Hello Beatmania IIDX. May I have some more?

So....It's like Guitar Hero with a disc. you move the disc with your right hand (like you would strum) and at the same time you press the buttons with your left hand to "scratch"(like you were pressing the fret buttons).
Yep. So......Beatmania?
Um, huh? How the hell do you rotate the record if you have to push buttons on the top of it while it's moving? Dumb.
Even if this controller and game were both frakkin awesome....practically everybody thinks at one point how cool it would be to be a rock star guitarist, almost NOBODY thinks how cool it would be to DJ in a club. Some people, sure, but this is just a bad idea that will hit a tiny niche audience. It's like DDR with 90% less widespread appeal.
It may be that the pictures are cropped for 'style' but it looks more like they've been put in 2 or 3 parts for arrangement on a website and only given one piece per picture.
