damn it

The gameplay looks like DMC, which is good. But I'm still not digging Dante's look.

What? No scantily clad witches? I May Cry.

#5 Posted by neckface (50 posts) -

this game looks pretty not bad, glad they're sticking with the new version of Dante.

Though it looks like his hair goes all white for the anime kids at certain points.

#6 Posted by Seraphim84 (399 posts) -

So his Devil Trigger is he turns into original Dante? Watch, at the ending he'll just get "stuck" in that mode, then everyone can be happy.

Interesting choice of music for the trailer.

#8 Posted by MindOST (215 posts) -

He looks slightly less silly than the old Dante

#9 Posted by s0mah (106 posts) -

im diggin the new look. sucks they didnt permanently retire the white hair gay boy anime style.

Not sure how I feel about this, something about the art style just struck me the wrong way. Action still looked good and while I like the concept art of the new Dante I just don't think it has translated very well into in game graphics.

Edit: I'm digging the music

"Work in progress gameplay"

That just breathes confidence.

Edit: The hair cut bugs me. It's the shaved on the sides full on top look that I don't appreciate; it's like he was going to go for a Mohawk but chickened out half way.

They finally showed more of this. Could be good, we'll see.
#13 Posted by Benjamimmy (565 posts) -

hmmm....Still don't know how I feel about this...

#14 Posted by Leadcat (225 posts) -

Looks great! They're doing a good job making me care about the series again after DMC4.

#15 Posted by brokenpilot (62 posts) -

I know i'm gonna get a torrent of shit for this but, I almost prefer this look to his old look. I mean at least he has a shirt on. Who wears a leather jacket without a shirt?

#16 Posted by Make_Me_Mad (2950 posts) -

This looks... pretty bad, graphically.  Reallly uninteresting enemy design from what they showed, and the graphics on Dante himself just look plain bad no matter how you feel about the new look.  When is this being released, again?  Because they need at the least another year or so to make it look on par with a good PS2 game.

#17 Posted by Klarion18 (66 posts) -

Totally expect a rattail with that hair cut. Flash to the end of phantom menace when they showed young anakin with the obi wan hair style.

#18 Posted by D3adend (38 posts) -

I'm okay with this.jpg

Don't like the look of the game at all. The teaser trailer that was first released for this looked infinitely more interesting. I hope they didn't back down on the style or anything just because of stupid ass fanboys that will never be satisfied.

#20 Posted by metalsnakezero (2269 posts) -

So far gameplay looks pretty good. Still not liking Dante's look.

#21 Posted by Marz (5608 posts) -

was a cool trailer at least.

#22 Posted by WiqidBritt (569 posts) -

don't mind that he doesn't have white hair, but I'm not digging the sloppy looking side shave/messed up mohawk thing he's got going on. I'm wondering if there is gonna be any of the Ninja Theory performance capture magic involved in this... maybe Andy Serkis will show up somewhere?

He looks like Hilliary Swank in Boys Don't Cry.

#25 Edited by kingzetta (4307 posts) -

looks good to me, I most likely won't buy it at first at least.

#26 Posted by Deadboy (28 posts) -

This game looks like crap. The main character isn't appealing at all.

#27 Posted by Transit3 (40 posts) -

Looking forward to see what Ninja Theory does with the story.

this. Can't wait to see what they can do, I have hope for this.

Work in Progress? Thank god for that because it certainly looks that way. Graphics look washed out, the environments have that same icky blandess from DMC2 and the overall hackin' n slashin' doesn't look as fluid as DMC4--nor as powerful. And though I've got little against the new Dante look, did they have to make him almost Ethiopian skinny? His character model in general resembles a small action figure.

Still, some great music at least.

Don't know if it the graphics or maybe it has to do with it being a trailer and not real time gameplay, but the whole thing looks off.

Like the sounds don't go with the attacks. Anyways, at least they found a common ground with his look, the white hair DT is kinda ok.

Haha. I think maybe it's just his hair that turns white?

He has awful hair though. Not fabulous at all.

BEIN' MADE IN MY HOMETOWN and it looks like the queen from Earthworm Jim makes an appearance at the end there.

Awful, just sooo fucking awful.Honestly it's a real disgrace to Devil May Cry series. At least seems like every real fan thinks the same.
DMC4 who was finished in late 2007 with MT Framework engine in 60 fps, looks hundred times better than this pile of dog shit of UE3 with barely 30 stable fps.
Seems like Capcom are just idiots who don't understand that you can't give established franshise to ''shitty'' western developers, who don't know how to do great action games. They just can't learn enough from past mistakes.
From one of the biggest backlash to Capcom in TGS 2010,this travesty just repeats itself.
I hope to God that there's DMC5 after this game bombs hard,if not you can already say R.I.P.

I can't believe I'm one of those guys, but I've heard this song somewhere anybody know the name of it?

edit:@Hollow_Stark: did you read the part where it says work in progress?

What if they put a leather strap over his nipples? Would you be into it then?

#36 Posted by fox01313 (5033 posts) -

Not a big fan of the series but have to admit that Dante in this looks rather generic & unimaginative.

#37 Posted by Toxin066 (3197 posts) -

Seeing as I don't spend too much time staring at Dante's face, I'm not too worried. The only problem might be with the cutscenes - can this portrayal of Dante match up to the ridiculousness I've come to expect? Can't wait to play this game.

Monday by Nelapa, Glicth Mob Remix.

It looks like... Devil May Cry. Surprise Surprise. Still hate the design of Dante though.

#40 Posted by ImperiousRix (2963 posts) -

Why is everyone trashing this game?  O.O
It looks hella Devil May Cry and the graphical changes like the world being washed out and then coming into more vivid color look pretty interesting.
Fuck, people.  They made him have white hair, what more do you want?!

#41 Posted by MrBubbles (705 posts) -

awesome. first day buy for me (whenever that is) as for the hair i really don't care just as long as he's still dante. it kind of bothers me that some people won't buy this just because of that.

#42 Posted by RecallBerserk (142 posts) -

Love the music

#43 Posted by Wes899 (2102 posts) -

I've seen people say this new one looks emo. I don't know about you guys but Dante has always looked hella emo.

#44 Posted by jollymore (8 posts) -

loving the glitch mob track

#45 Edited by Skooky (473 posts) -

The fighting seemed too slow and none of the attacks seemed to have any impact.

#46 Posted by VicRattlehead (1397 posts) -

i dislike this quite a bit, get a DMC2 vibe of it and some would have you believe that game doesn't exist. Ill buy it though in the hopes that in the end all will be alright

#47 Posted by Zeik (2111 posts) -

The gameplay looks good, but that is one awful looking haircut.

#48 Edited by Lightdud (56 posts) -

The new Dante looks like...a punk.

And not in a good way.

#49 Posted by Taiyo (60 posts) -

Was hoping Ninja Theory of all developers would smoothen out the animation.  I guess the erratic DMC combat doesn't really lend itself to smooth animation, but it still looks quite jerky.

#50 Posted by Zomba13 (11 posts) -

Fuck this game and the movie they are basing on it.

Seriously.

I want good old Dante back and the movie to have good old cocky, fun loving Dante.
