    Gets better with age...

Doom 3 BFG Edition for the Xbox 360, I can describe this game in one word :- Intense

This edition features Doom, Doom 2, Doom 3, Resurrection of Evil, and the brand new Lost Mission.

I've had fond memories of the Doom series since Doom for the Snes and it took a long time to re-live them until now.

Doom 3 is a kind of remake of the first Doom but with added features and greater detail, it takes place on Mars (Naturally), You play the part of a marine sent to help with security as strange things have been happening since the mysterious Dr Betruger started experimenting with teleportation devices. When you arrive on Mars, all he'll breaks loose (Sorry for the pun), your objective is to obtain the Soul Cube and stop the demonic invasion.

Resurrection of Evil is a direct sequel to Doom 3, you play a different marine who finds something called "The Artifact" in the ruins underneath the Mars base. "The Artifact" is a demonic weapon that can absorb demonic powers. You must stop another demon invasion using "The Artifact" and defeat the new demon lord Dr Betruger.

The all new Lost Mission follows the story of the ill-fated Bravo team who tried to stop the demonic invasion during the events of Doom 3. Again you play an unnamed marine alone as the rest of your team were killed by imps (Ha, pussies), you and a scientist working on the base have help stop the first demon invasion. It features all new levels, new secrets and a new storyline.

This BFG edition has HD support that it desperately needed, the option of having your torch on as well as your gun thankfully.

The detail for The Lost Mission is amazing, the level detail is beautiful and hell levels will actually make you shit bricks.

    Sound 7/10

The sound was always an issue in D3 and unfortunately Bethesda and id haven't fixed that issue

    Graphics 9/10

Considering this first came on the original Xbox, the graphics seem a lot better compared to the original in some scenes, and the graphics definately are better in The Lost Mission.

    Gameplay 10/10

Although it doesn't bring anything new to the fps genre, it does offer hours, days, months and even years of replay value thanks to the original Doom and Doom 2, and obviously Doom 3, Resurrection of Evil and The Lost Mission. I would say the only thing missing from this amazing collection would be the Final Doom levels, I guess the guys couldn't get permission to use them?

    Final thought

Like I said before, I love the Doom series and this edition feels like it was made recently and it will have you double taking around every corner both in the game and in real life thanks to the creepy atmosphere
