I have been having severe frame rate issues mostly every game after roughly the 35 minute mark. I've scoured multiple articles and forums threads to see that this issue is rather common. Do any duders have any insight on how to fix this? I've lowered textures to the bare minimum and have reduced animations, shaders, etc to low or medium. According the speedfan my GPU peaks at about 72 C at this time frame in game (I'm running a dell studio XPS thats roughly 3+ years old). I think it could be an overheating issue and was thinking about purchasing a cooling station (possibly a cooler master U3). Any and all advice on this issue would be appreciated.

I used to be able to play 5-6 games in a row without a hitch months ago, I'm not sure if its a heat issue or an optimization issue on the client side, i also cleaned out the dust a month or so ago

@the_drizzle: The amount of creeps keeps increasing so that could be why, that it struggles as more stuff happens on screen. 72C is rather hot but do you have this issue with any other games? Dota 2 isn't the most taxing game out there.

@nictel: As far as i can tell, no. However, in all fairness very few games do i run for multiple hours. This frame rate issue does happen in the first game i usually play assuming it hits that time mark.

Have you tried opening the case to have a look at any dust build up?

@dacnomaniac: yes about a month ago, i should probably open it up and look again

@the_drizzle: How hot is your CPU getting?

@the_drizzle: Did you put a vacuum cleaner on the fans?.. Also you might want to boot it up and see if the fans are spinning properly.

@benny: peak is 59-60 C

@nictel: i can hear the fan running as it's loud as fuck lol. I heard the vacuum method can be risky

If you turn all of the graphic options to low, does the problem persist?

That's why I asked, to make sure you didn't accidentally broke something during the last cleaning. I had on old Dell where I broke one of the fans fan.

During the frame rate issue, whenever i exit the dota client completely and then restart it will be fine for another 25 mins or so.
