It's a common misconception that you can't because there's no easy mode in real life, and the timing needs to be so exact, which is really hard to achieve from a first person perspective.

It's not so much impossible in real-life, as unnecessary - if the ability was granted through the use of jet-packs or whatever, then it would never be described as a double jump anyway.

I used to think it was possible when I was really young to jump off of some object while in freefall. Like, "Oh, if a plane is crashing, I'll just grab a chair and jump out, and just before hitting the ground, I'll jump up off the chair, and land unharmed."

The really rad thing is going back to Gamespot and talking to the people who still think it's possible.

I guess you could make some shoes that fire a pole downwards mid jump, effectivley making you jump again when they hit the floor.

Learning to time the double jump would be hard too, too early and it does relatively nothing, too late and it doesn't help much.

When I was in 4th grade. I had a karate teacher, he could do it, I have no doubt in my mind.

Scientists could totally make this happen by putting magnets in our shoes and counteracting gravity. Trust me, I went to science camp once.

I feel this thread is back in the news now due to the Double Jump definitive top ten list happening right now during the Aftermath show. I still have not found an IRL Double Jump. Any new reports?
