What do you guys think, does DLC and the possibility of patches make game devs lazier?

It seems to me like they can get away with a lot less polish these days. If there's a problem with the game they can just patch it in a few days and the problems solved.

It got me thinking due to the new Mirrors Edge DLC, it occured to me that if it had been packaged in the original release (like the VR missions in MGS) the game may well have received greater praise.

    Thoughts?

It makes them think ahead a little, and a bit more money-grubby...but I wouldn't say lazy.

Wrong, DLC and patches have been around for decades.  Only console gamers believe in this myth that "patches makes devs lazy".   All good software has had patches since software started.  You know, Version 1, 1.2, 2.3 etc..
Console gamers have just been gimped for so long they assume bugs are features.

Console gamers do not believe in this myth, illogical gamers believe in this myth.
