What does everyone think? I know they said they were going with a new visual style, but it still looks pretty decent to me.

Horrible representation of what the final product will be? Those screens aren't very flattering in my mind.

Looks like still shots from early stages of development. Calm down folks, I'm sure the final product will be as beautiful, if not more so, than the first game!

New visual style? This looks considerably worse than Origins running on a high-end PC.
I bet you there are two completely separate teams working on Origins/2.

Not sure. I'm just going by what was said in the Giant Bomb article. The ground kinda looks like Mars. Maybe that's what they meant?

I think they had a deal with Game Informer to give them the first screens or something like that because these look VERY early.

No way. The art design in the original way great...that looks technically worse and artistically WAY worse.

I think he's just comparing these shots to how the first game looks maxed out. Which isn't unreasonable, since most initial game shots are practically target renders. Its all guesswork but I suspect their plan with simpler models is to have more large scale battles like at the end of the last game. Problem is the style isn't really working at the moment.

I highly doubt that will be final render. There is probably still lighting issues and what not. However, look at that character model, and the muscles on his arm; far more detailed then anything in Origins.

There's is absolutely no way the art direction could be worse than the first one. DA:O was like they took the LotR movies, replaced all the clothing with ren-faire leftovers, then slapped a coat of slime on everything and called it a day. It's as if they decided that they needed to be more generic than D&D, and somehow miraculously found a way.

@LiquidPrince: I don't see it. I guess this character looks more settled into itself because, if I had to guess, you're not able to really adjust anything on him. Not to the extent of the previous game. So obviously everything would fit better and look better. Also the hair looks like it moves. Maybe it'll look great in motion. I just know when I saw the first screen I was like "oh its about the same" and then I was like "ug what" at the enemies on the second screen. When something is "leaps and bounds" better you notice immediately. Whatever, I'll just jump on the "I don't want to call it ugly so let's call it early" bandwagon.

I'm still sure the game and its story will be great but these images do nothing for me. While the new visual style of the characters is fine, the detail and environments are just boring.

Of course, getting held up on early screenshots is a fools game. I'm more interested in how the story plays out etc.

Looks like very early beta to me, and we can't learn much from this, like, nothing!

I think companies should keep their games under wrap right untill they right the shelves.
Otherwise, they get nothing but flak anyway, should be bloody ashamed of calling yourselves gamers with this nonstop complaining about everything!
