How the hell do you get Sebastian to join?!

I did his Duty mission where you kill the 3 bands of mercenaries, spoke to the Reverent Mother and talked to him and he thanked me but did not  join my party! He's just sitting at the church... It's pissing me off! I got everyone else already and I want the complete set dammit!

Wait until act 2.

Yeah, after doing his "companion" quest in Act 2 (you get it right off the bat) you can choose to recruit him.

He is a pretty sick companion btw.

Ah, that explains it.

On a completely unrelated note, if I go into the Deep Thaig Expedition do I lose the rest of the sidequests in from Act 1 (since I assume there will be another time jump)? Cause I only have 2-3 left and I might as well do them if they disappear...

@Enigma777: they do indeed disappear. thats why he warns you like 3000 times to make sure you finish any outstanding business

Super dumb that you have to wait till act 2 in my opinion.

His specialization skills are real good. Which is annoying because my character is already a darned archer.

Yeah I had to respec my archer because I wanted Sebastian.

I totally agree. I figured I messed up something up with the Duty quest at first. Considering that some people may be buying this guy as well, it's ridiculous to have him buried deep in at least 10 hours worth of the game. Shale wasn't handed to you off the bat, but she was still made readily available (more or less) when the world map opened up, after the around 3 hour long prologue. By that time, Origins had essentially already given you a full party anywhoo, but DA2 has them cornered off requiring you find them, and recruit them, in any order, except Sebastian. =/

I was honestly surprised at the amount of dialog he provides for missions. He also has serious issues with apostates which makes him a great pair with Anders. You'd think they'd eventually stop bitching at each other but they don't.

Just goes to show how he was always meant to be part of the full game, not just DLC.

I can't help but wondering, if they gave Zaeed Massani and Kasumi Goto in ME2 dialogue wheels (like all other squaddies) would they have been accepted more?
I was very surprised at the full range of banter those two got during the main mission, making it also seem very clear they were meant to be part of the full game at some point.
