So I played through Dragon Age Origins a little after it came out and loved it. However since then I had to reinstall windows at one point and lost my save data, should I replay Origins in preparation for 2?

Well I played Dragon Age on 360 when it came out

But then I got a better computer and about a couple of weeks ago I started playing it on PC with all the DLC in preperation for DA2, also I felt like I hadn't done as much as I wanted to in my first playthrough

    So I recommend it

It isn't necessary, but you should.

Definitely. I would recommend it even if there weren't a sequel ready to come out.

@Cvamp:  It's not necessary, but everyone should enjoy the glory of Dragon Age, so go for it.

Only if you actually want to play it.
It's a long ass game, I don't recomend doing it if it's just for the save import.

However I am personally replaying it right now since i had a second half finished game from some time ago anyway.

I literally just finished my first playthrough last night. Admittedly, other games got in the way. I'm only at the 100 hour mark. I just have the Witch Hunt DLC to do before I import and play The Awakening. Then I'll probably blitz that Golems DLC with my super levelled-up dude before importing to DA II.

Fuuuuck. I still have a lot of Dragon Age to play.

I know some cats have talked jive on importing save files and if you're just playing through to import a save, yeah, it's a little silly. Personally, I feel like I've had a pretty strong hand in shaping this world, and being able to carry that world forward could tie me more deeply to Dragon Age 2, which I'm already having a few misgivings about.

I thought about this but then I remember the Fade level and I decide against it.  I've already beaten the game twice though, plus I can't ever see myself playing as anything other than an Arcane Warrior so there wouldn't be much for me to do different.

There is a mod that allows you to skip the fade and get all the bonuses.

Man, losing save data sucks, especially on a long assed game like this.

Having lost your save, I can appreciate why you would want to play through again.  I did, though only because I was only willing to buy awakening once it was discounted.  I personally found the game just as fun but I basically skipped all the dialogue.

After playing the demo a couple times through I decided to start playing Origins again.  I had one save game near the end and another in the middle-ish.. so I started a new playthrough.

    @Chaossebba Easily.

I played through DAO when it came out on a warrior, still have the save but no idea what decisions I made. I started a new game (rogue) a few days ago and im making good progress.

Also, im I the only one who likes the fade level ? Its easy and different.

Exactly what I'm doing. Origins + Awakening + Witch Hunt run before DA2's release.

So far: finished Origins, started Awakening, then jumping onto Witch Hunt.
