Basically, this man asked Bioware if "they sold [their] soul to the EA Devil?" and was banned. But not just from the Bioware forums, from his DLC, from his games, from his Dragon Age II: Bioware Signature Edition.
and what did Bioware have to say about this?
"Please review the EA Community Terms of Service, particularly sections #9 and #11. There are two levels of enforcement here:
1. BioWare community bans are forum-only and can be for as little as 24 hours. These bans should have no effect on your game, only your ability to use all the features of this website/community. these bans are handed out by BioWare Moderators as the result of our travels around the forum and/or issues reported by fellow community members.
2. EA Community bans come down from a different department and are the result of someone hitting the REPORT POST button. These bans can affect access to your game and/or DLC.
Because the BioWare community now operates under the same umbrella as all EA Communities, community members here have all explicitly agreed to abide by and be governed by both sets of rules. Consider it an added incentive to follow the rules you say you're going to follow.
If there are further questions or concerns, please send them to me via private message. Thank you.
End of line." - Stanely Woo
So, anyone else really love the new Bioware?

To be fair, you have to take his word for it that that's all he said, though honestly I'm inclined to believe this could happen.
It's rather ridiculous that a forum ban can effect your ability to play a single player game and if that's really what happened then more people need to hear about this. I understand that the Bioware forums and anything to do with DA2 is a complete shitfest right now, with false Metacritic ratings and all, so I'm sure Bioware and EA mods are under some stress, but they shouldn't overreact to this extent.
There was probably a nicer way to ask that question. But it is a dick move to ban you from what you purchased. Oh well people should read ToS more carefully.
If the bans are due to a REPORT POST then it means someone upset someone else...I'm not opposed to this as long as they have some recourse for people who just disagree with your opinion and are dicks.
As for the banning from your games....forget that! If you pay money to use the game (I know we all sign away our rights to "own" the game with any terms they throw at us as gamers) then you should not have that taken away without a refund. Not a partial return, not credit for another EA title, A full on balls to the wall(et) refund.
Can't believe they get away with this.
Man, I just lost a fair bit of respect for Bioware.
They seriously think that literally every person who says anything remotely negative about DA2 is trolling on behalf of /v/. Bioware, I fucking love you, but get come on, get your shit together and stop playing victim.
What you say on some silly board should not affect the game you paid good money for. That is beyond ridiculous, and quite creepy really.
Amazed something like that can even be done.
well thats why they unlock everything on there site rather than on xbox redeem code so they can hold it hostage. nothing at the moment is youres its all just a call to there servers. i haven't tried it yet but im assuming that if you played offline it would say that these items are not available... fuck ea seriously if they hadn't bought every good developer and there games the community would have revolted by now
This is going to be a class five shit-storm in the gaming press, and a well-deserved one if true.
Picture a future where you play The Old Republic for a year, get grouchy about something, then talk trash about EA on the forums. Under their terms of service, Bioware will delete your endgame character and render your PC DVD into a beer coaster.
This is all part of the business premise that you don't own a game (or any other media that can be controlled digitally), you only have permission to utilize it. That permission can be revoked at anytime by the IP owner. I call it the "It's My Ball and If You Don't Play By My Rules, You Don't Play at All" law of business. Expect to see it expand into other forms of communication and entertainment. Look at the new Nintendo 3DS. It has the ability to "brick" your system remotely if it senses that you might have used illegal software or homebrew capable hardware.
lol fuck that guy, what was he even thinking?
They're Bioware; they make the games, EA does the marketting, if you come right up on their doorstep n say "Hey guess what you all suck" then they're totally ALLOWED to slap you in the face.
It's like if someone blocked you from Twitter for bein a huge dick, except it's way funnier.
If he would've said "yo Bioware are gay I hate them" on ANY other forum, then that's nothin anyone should care about. But it's the fact that he signed up to BIOWARE's forum and got right up in the faces of the guys who spent years sleepin under desks goin crazy on the game n tried to be all EPIC WIN up in there- he totally deserves it.
How come when a company that has a publishing partner makes a bad game it's the publisher's fault? I don't get where the guy was coming from with his comment. The end result was pretty ironic though.
Banning him from playing his copy of the game that he bought and even pre-ordered is taking things way, way too far for a snarky comment.
Shit like this is why some people buy used games, and I don't blame them." He's just going to pirate it now, and I really don't blame him. Also, a lot of people are just going to pirate it for the sake of it now, to get 'e-justice'. Bad move EA / Bioware. "
If it's true of course.
" I wonder how Commander Shepard would feel about all this. "He/She would just kick the bitch out a window.

i gotta agree with this guy. assholes need to be dealt with. he was being a prick and he got dealt with. yeah, it was harsh, but he shouldn't be that upset, 'cause "the game sucked" anyway. why would he even want to play it if he hates it so much. fucking loser. i'd slap him in the face too.
This. And people need to stop playing the EA blame game. No one likes them, but this is all on BioWare." Man, I just lost a fair bit of respect for Bioware. This whole auto-attack...debacle has just left me feeling dirty. I won't be able to rest easy until I see for myself how well Mass Effect 3 turns out.

Because he paid for it. And if I may direct you here, we're basically all, well, complaining to BioWare's face about these issues.
I feel like, if this were true, he should probably work on getting a bunch of other people together who do the same thing, so that there's a substantial amount of money to sue EA for. I feel like it's illegal to revoke someone's access to a license that they already purchased just because they put it in the contract. I'm willing to bet there's some law that could be used against EA somewhere out there, because while he was only purchasing a license, he did purchase the license, and the transaction is signing a contract. EA can't control how he decides to use his license, just like they can't legally stop people from selling their games used. Because a game disc is just a physical license, and what he signed was a digital one.
Basically, unless EA could legally brick a disc copy at their discretion, then this is definitely illegal (if true).
Blaming Bioware for EA's business practices is really stupid having said that what they did may not be fair but it is a TOS violation and for that they can do whatever they please, including taking away usage of the game.
It's about the ability of being banned entirely from your games for speaking negatively.
@BD_Mr_Bubbles:
There isn't much of a difference between EA and Bioware anymore. But if you must, the news is EA has the ability to ban you and prevent you from playing the games you paid for.

Yes I know they can ban you from a game you you paid for, is this ethical no not really but it states in the TOS (that he had to have agreed to) that they have a right to do what they did
