If the demo was any indication, I'll keep it the way it is.

This sequel to Dragon Age: Origins features faster combat, a new art style, and a brand new, fully voiced main character named Hawke.
Will You Play With Auto-Attack?
I'll be playing the PC version, so auto-attack it is. Clicking a mouse is hardly as dramatic and action-y as mashing a button on your controller.
B. I love the changes they've made to the game and I don't think I could go back to origins after playing the demo

I've been playing Origins after i played the demo. It took a bit of adjustment to the slower tactical combat.
But yeah, i'll be playing on PC, so auto-attack it is.
I could probably play without the auto attack in stretches of time and then switch auto attack on, but I'm not sure I could play it throughout the game.
Slightly irrelevant though since I'm going to play on the PC. Wouldn't be able to handle mashing the left mouse button all the time.
The combat in DA:O kinda bored me. At least the Warrior did. I'm digging the options the Rogue has. I never was that tactical though. Plus, whenever I'd click on an enemy to attack (360 version) he'd strike the enemy once then wander off somewhere. Don't know if that's my shitty, old controller though.
Probably try the "Press to Attack" mode first.
I'm going with B, since that's what Bioware intended.
If it sucks, and the auto attack is an option, then its auto attack.
If its not an option, that'll be only the Bioware game I won't replay then.
Since everything is sped up a notch, I don't think I could sit there and let it auto attack. It would detach me too much and I quite liked the engaging feel of the combat even though the 'regular hit button to attack'-attack felt like filler in some sense. So, I'm going to be playing it manually on a console, because I'm a good old heretic.
No for now, I liked the feel from the demo. But maybe later into the game as I start getting a wider array of abilities to manipulate, I might switch to auto so I can get more tactical
PC, auto-attack.
I played the demo on my 360 too and smashing a button constantly felt weird. Hitting a button every second + activating abilities on all characters + assessing the situation without the ability to pull as far back as in DAO, when playing on the harder difficulties just isn't going to work. I guess the console versions will be easier again.
" @MaFoLu: No. That fact has made a small group of people over on the Bioware forums rather pissed off. "Yea, well, there is bound to be people who get pissed of no matter what Bioware does, it's the internet we're talking about here...
Even though I personally don't think it's that big of an issue, I guess I can see where they're coming from, I mean, more options are always good, right?
I will be playing it on PC so auto-attack for me too. But I have no idea why they do not also include 360 pad support for DA 2. Bioware didn't include 360 pad support for ME 2 either and the only reason I can think of is because they feel that even the notion of including it would offend so called "hard core" PC players. If that is the reason I got a two word solution for you Bioware, fuck those people, because they will still get the M&K set up as usual.
However I get around all that bullshit by using Pinnacle Game Profiler, which is great for making PC games support a 360 pad.
I thought mashing A was ok, but in the end I think I'm going to switch to auto attack and keep it that way. Dragon Age isn't an action RPG.
...
...
...oh wait.
Was the option to switch it to auto-attack in the demo (360)? If so, I'd go for it. Playing as a mage, I'd rather focus my efforts on spellcasts and not A-mashing.
I'm hoping nightmare mode will be challenging enough that I'll be too busy with skill hotkeys to fuck around with individual hits. So yeah, it'll be on. I feel like it's kind of a pointless addition unless there's a strike bonus tied to timing the hit(like the Witcher), which there isn't.
