I was considering picking up this game but I would like to know if this game has co-op in it like the old baldur's gate games?

Co-op wouldn't work in this game anyways.  Don't expect a game like those Baldur's Gate action RPGs if that is what you're expecting, it's not like those.

Baldur's Gate is not an action RPG by any stretch of the imagination. And you SHOULD expect a game like Baldur's Gate, for that matter. Except it's a little more accessible, more current gen and more straightforward, storywise. And just like in Baldur's Gate, co-op could work perfectly well in this game. They just didn't put it in, which is kind of a shame. However, sweet as BG's co-op was, it's true strengths lay in the immersive world and the interesting story and characters. If co-op was your main attraction to BG, which is hard for me to believe, then I guess this indeed isn't your game.
