To answer your question, if you haven't played the first, then yes, it is definitely worth it. The second one is a toss up though.

@TheHBK: I just looked at it again. It's actually Dragon Age 2 that's five bucks, DA:O Ultimate is $7.49.

I think the first is one of the finest RPGs of all time. Read Dave Snider's review on the site. The second is very different, I enjoyed it in a different way. Huge departure from the first. There's a strong vocal crowd that hate it though.

Absolutely it is. And, whatever DA2 is also worth it at that price.

Definitely get Origins, and make sure to get the ultimate edition, the expansion was very good.

I wouldn't bother with 2 unless you are desperate for something to play, Steam sale is right around the corner, there will be much better uses for your $5 there.

Dragon Age 2 was different than the first, but the same in some ways. Both are awesome.

This is exactly how I think about it. The first one was a phenomenal RPG. The second, while departing from it's predecessor a lot, still shines with the coating that makes us love Dragon Age. I actually enjoyed the combat more in DA2, but everything else in the first.
