So, I won a game in Vito's (user: Vito_Raliffe) game raffle on GB, in the form of DBZ: Burst Limit. I'm actually kind of happy to have won it, despite DBZ being a dumb franchise.
There's a place for super flashy, shallow fighters out there. DBZ isn't exactly complicated (as a narrative, or characters, etc.), but it's still weirdly enjoyable. Plus, while reviews for Burst Limit have been average (notably a 3/5 from Vinny), it's at least a 2D fighter, compared to Budokai 3 in some respects.
It at least doesn't look like the epic befuddling disasters known as Dragon Ball Z: Raging 1 or 2, so that's good.
So, thanks again to Vito_Raliffe for having the raffle, and picking me.
And yo, any game where you can get your power level over 9000 is ok in my book.

Congratz on winning. I've always had a spot in my heart for the DBZ games, but I never really went out of my way to buy them. Although I do remember buying Supersonic Warriors on the GBA and playing that non-stop. All of the PS2 games and whatnot, I always just rented and had a good time with for a few days. So anyway, yeah; they're fun. :)
As someone who was after that game, congratulations! The only problem is that I now have to think of a new target in Vito's contests.
good thing is wasnt this:
DBZ Burst Limit is a great game, the fact that it's not super complex makes it extremely easy for new players to jump into and challenge you surprisingly fast, whereas with any other more complicated title (MK, SSFIV, etc.) there are a lot more basic techniques to be learnt before you can really start being competitive, even with a friend.
Grats man! That game has been on the contest list for a while o_o.
I used to be a DBZ fan as a kid back in the day. Only DBZ game I played was the one on the super famicom Dragon Ball Z Super Butoden 3 (I filed down the edges to make it playable on SNES)
You should give the Naruto games a blast, they follow closely in the DBZ over-the-top trappings, and are actually great fun.
On that note, Asura's Wrath looks pretty great.
Oh, also, Tara Platt is very cool. 'Nuff said.
