    Overview

Dragon Ball Z is a 2D sci-fi fantasy fighting game developed by Banpresto (along with both Cobra Team and Magical Formation) and released by Banpresto for arcades in 1993.

Based on the Dragon Ball manga and anime series, Dragon Ball Z is the series' first arcade game (and one of its earliest fighting game adaptations). It features characters and locales from the earliest Dragon Ball Z storylines (the "Saiyan Saga" and "Namek Saga" arcs) and plays like a traditional three-button fighting game (although jumping is replaced by free-moving flight).

The game received a sequel a year later, titled Dragon Ball Z 2: Super Battle.
