    Don't Buy This Game

A lot of people have fond memories of Dragon Ball from their childhood. Many people were excited about finally getting a live action movie based on it, and this game just made the deal sound a little sweeter. I mean, come on, movie games are awesome, right!?

This game (and it's movie counterpart) try to play off of nostalgia. The problem is that this game will kill all of your childhood memories and leave you haunted with nightmares of a wasted childhood. It is by far one of the worst games ever made, if not the worst. If you are considering purchasing this game, you should watch this video first. To put it bluntly, this game makes E.T . look good. It plays better in still images than in actual gameplay, and makes you hate yourself for spending money on it.

In the story, you are Goku, a normal white (not asian!?) kid who goes to High School (High School High?). You are learning martial arts from your grandfather. Turns out your grandfather has something, and Piccolo wants it. After some entertaining still picture fighting, you go up against him in combat. Chaos ensues, and Goku has to save the world.

As far as combat goes, it is incredibly mashy, only requiring you to push Square. You CAN pull off moves, but it is decidedly not worth trying to learn it, since the combat is the worst part of the game. You will play as more than just Goku in the story, but whether or not you will actually recognize who these people are depends entirely upon your imagination.

There is multiplayer and an arcade mode, but both of those feature the combat. You choose between 10 characters and fight it out. Since this features the combat, you should avoid this part of the game. If it were pictures fighting each other, that might actually be fun, but only for comical purposes.

Dragonball: Evolution is considered by many to be the worst video game of all time. It is only fitting, as many people found the movie to be one of the worst films of all time. My advice to you: do not buy this game. Do not support this in any way. You will only encourage them to pump out more F-Grade games. If you are dying to get your hands on this game, you are a masochist. Don't buy this game.

I have, in the past, praised the first DragonBall game for PSP, Shin Budokai. Although DB Evolution uses the same engine, it feels like it's been dialed back a lot. Due to the fact that it's based directly on the film, the cast has been reduced enormously. No in-game transformations, no movie-esque versions of characters from the anime making guest appearances, and no chance of some of the more minor characters from the film making an appearance. I would have at least liked to have seen Ernie Hu...

Dragonball Evolution (Film not PSP) 0

If you know Namek’s have antennae, then fall into a temporary amnesia to maximize your enjoyment of the movie. You can forget Goku’s personality, Dragonball lore, and characters like Krillin, Tien Shinhan, Oolong, and many others.  Ben Ramsey, who wrote the film adaption, (and paid $500,000 for his work) portrays Goku as an eighteen year old, sexually frustrated boy. It is quite the departure from the innocent and humble Goku in the animated series. The plot line can be outlined in one sentence:...
