I did a little research before I picked the game up and knew from the get go that Magick Archer was going to be what I wanted to eventually play as. So, I leveled up a Strider and last night switched vocations to the Magick Archer. So far it's pretty darn fun. It's not as powerful as I thought it would be but I only have a couple skills. I still need to level the class up more before I can get the heavy hitting stuff.
What about you guys? What vocation did you go with for your main character and how are you enjoying it?

Capcom makes an ambitious undertaking with this 2012 Open World Action-RPG.
What vocation are you currently playing as?
Ranger, I'm digging the longbow. I was hoping you could move more over between classes than just augmented but whatevs.
Yeah, same here. But I guess it makes sense. New classes need new skills so you lose the older ones.Ranger, I'm digging the longbow. I was hoping you could move more over between classes than just augmented but whatevs.
How is your damage output as a Ranger? Do you still go head to head any or are you strictly shooting from afar.
So how does it work exactly? is it that you have to get all 9 levels in both basic classes to go hybrid (9 in strider, 9 in fighter to go assassin, for example)?

No, once you reach character level 10 you can switch to anything you want. As long as you have the points for it, 1000 or 1500 depending on what class. And I forget the point system name. The level has nothing to do with vocation level. Just once your overall character level is 10.
And its a good idea to mix it up, as you can retain certain skills and abilities when changing.
I went Ranger. At first in the demo I wasn't feeling the Strider so much, but once i started to get more bow skills in the full game I really liked it. As a ranger my go to skills are tenfold shot and meteor shot(?). Also, I find reset really good for stringing dagger skills together. All in all the damage output is very high but at the cost of alot of stamina, that's my only gripe.

Sorcerer. Tricky to play, because you really need your pawns to cover your squishy rear while you charge up the spells, but once those suckers are let loose, it's over. No questions, no mercy. Fight = over.
I generally play casters, and also found this to be the case. I promptly switched over to Mystic Knight and it's honestly a blast. Those spell effects on all four magic classes are phenomenal, but I'd personally not spend the entire game standing still, hoping not to get hit. :P
Instead I use crazy abilities like Magick Canon and protect my own explosive casters. :D
started out as a strider now i'm playing as a fighter for the the stronger attacks and just found a awesome sword that's always enchanted with fire.
@JonSmith: I'm only 24 right now and haven't dabbled much in Sorcerer, so I really couldn't say. I just think the melee combat in this game is a lot less frustrating than the casting. So benefit: less frustration when your casting breaks? :P
I'm playing strider/mage related things. I went magic archer after getting to vocation 3 or 4 in strider and I'm loving it but I could see myself really enjoying anything that isn't entirely about 24/7 clobberin' time.
My main's still a fighter (tried the warrior some, but didn't appreciate how slow it made me) and I think I'm going to stick with that till I max it out. Then I'll probably switch to Assassin so I can keep my Sword & Shield combo but also make use of a bow. Especially since my character's a redhead named Leliana, so how can I not give my main a bow to shoot!
