Isn't that the route almost every phone-game takes? Except Angry Birds, how many of these "mad popular" games have we not seen only to be forgotten immediately again? Tiny Tower, Draw Something, Triple Town, etc etc.
After the Zynga picked them up and some of the team members quit because of that one of the head guys basically trashed his former employees. So, basically huge PR fallout because the people who make the game are apparently douchebags.
I was under the impression that plenty of people still play it (though the numbers did drop off) but nobody talks about it anymore because it's not new. I think it's limited number of words made the heavy players get tired of drawing the same things over and over so they stopped playing. What's left is the casual player who isn't as likely to be vocal about what they're playing.
The only reason it because popular was because it was a fad. And fads tend to fade out almost as quickly as they start. Give it a month or so and a new game will inevitably pop up that rides the same wave.
