The rumored “Dreamcast Collection” that appeared on GameStop in late 2010 is a real thing, and it’s hitting next month, Feb. 22 for the Xbox 360 on a disc and the PC as a digital download. Sounds exciting, but you should probably go ahead and lower your expectations. It's cool, I'll wait.

OK, so this collection contains four visually enhanced DC games, all of which have already hit Xbox Live Arcade and PSN, or are slated to in the future. That’s right--Sega Bass Fishing, Sonic Adventure, Crazy Taxi, and Space Channel 5 Part 2 are all shipping in this collection, which I’d imagine is really targeted to the massive crowd of Xbox 360 owners who don’t bother with connecting their consoles to the Internet, and the PC people who can't get these titles easily the legit way.

== TEASER ==Sega, unfortunately, isn’t talking price just yet (which is weird), but as Joystiq points out, the GameStop listing had it pegged for 30 bucks. We'll have to see.

Here's what we found when we dug into a couple of these XBLA releases last year. (Skip to around the 15-minute mark in this here first one.)

Sega Bass Fishing? Aren't there...more exciting games for the Dreamcast to put on this disc?
#5 Posted by Guyzea (816 posts) -

I don't mean to be rude but WHERE THE FUCK IS SHENMUE??? I would pay $200 for that game.

Im finding it hard to put into words how pointless this release sounds.

Sonic Adventure
Complete crap.

Crazy Taxi
Good fun back in the day, but has aged badly.

SEGA Bass Fishing
... really?

Space Channel 5: Part 2
Mindless rythem games aren't my thing. I wonder if they still have the 'rights' to include Jackson.

Great job Sega. Jeez. I hope that isn't the whole list. I'm trying to think of better games to include...
Uhh...
Virtua Fighter 3? That was pretty good I guess.

I would love to see an XBLA release of TOTD. All the 360 version would need is common as muck usb keyboard.

Cant wait to play Crazy Taxi on ma 24'' screen..... /sarcasm

Get a cheap dreamcast for less than $50 and if that doesn't come with shenmue 2, order it with shenmue 2. I have 2 copies of the first and 1 of the sequel..... hoping that one day it'll continue.

This just reminds me of the fact that I'll never be able to do a Sonic Adventure blog, at least on this computer. I should really upgrade in the future.

Damnit, still no chu chu rocket!

It's like watching the Dreamcast die all over again.

I'm kind of bummed that SEGA didn't include Shenmue I & II into this collection. That's definitely a missed opportunity.

#18 Posted by Branthog (5597 posts) -

But will it be available on the three DreamCasts that I own and are sitting upstairs with my other archived consoles? :P

#19 Posted by ThePilgrums (433 posts) -

No Power Stone games? Seaman? Jet Set Radio? Shenmue? Come on, this is just lazy.

#20 Posted by sushisteve (186 posts) -

If they had the Shenmue without the "hey mister wanna wrestle" bad English dub and Jet Grind Radio with better analog controls THEN you'd be talking.

#21 Posted by XChairmanDrekX (311 posts) -

That's a pretty weak collection if that's it.

#22 Posted by durden77 (303 posts) -

I'm sorry but this is pretty pathetic. Bass Fishing and Space Channel 5? Where the Fuck is Jet Set Radio? Sonic Adventure 2? Chu Chu Rocket? Crazy Taxi 2? Find a way to get Power Stone 1 & 2 in there. Shenmue.

If Sega is trying to sum up what the Dreamcast was with this collection, they are failing hard.

Power Stone is a Capcom franchise. Sega don't own it.

That being said, I would KILL for Capcom to re-release Project Justice. That game is one of their flat out best but sadly it never left the Dreamcast.
#24 Posted by durden77 (303 posts) -
@MysteriousBob: Yeh I know that about power stone that's why I said find a way. It can't be that hard to ask Capcom, "Hey you guys want money for that old game that isn't making you money anymore?"
#25 Edited by SuperSambo (2885 posts) -

After a quick conversation with my friend we concluded that PSO was not feasible, but dammit that does not mean that it will not be missed!

So many games that could have been used, yet they pick this crap. 2 (terrible) games are already on xblm, fishing looks boring as hell and I was never a Space Channel Guy.

Thing is if this sells badly (which im guessing it will) I doubt they will bother trying to make any more...

Ugh...

Power Stone Collection
Capcom still recognises its existence.

Trust SEGA to balls up a half decent idea. Jesus Christ, I'm starting to think that they actually like being a laughing stock.

What isn't in this collection:

Chu Chu Rocket
Shenmue I & II
Jet Grind Radio
Soul Calibur
Powerstone I & II
Typing of the Dead
Resident Evil: Code Veronica
Ikaruga

The lack of arcadia on this list makes me sad, actually the lack of arcadia on anyones list makes sad.. did nobody else love this game?
#32 Posted by TripMasterMunky (2403 posts) -

I want a collection that has both Shenmue 1 & 2 on it.

#33 Posted by HandsomeDead (11863 posts) -

No Shenmue, no Shenmue II, no JSR, no JSRF, no Power Stone (Capcom, but whatever) no sale.

#34 Posted by WulfBane (197 posts) -

Less of a "collection" and more of "here's a few games that were on the Dreamcast".  Then again, "collection" is easier to fit on a box than what I said.

#35 Posted by Mento (2808 posts) -

Guys, they're obviously saving all the good Dreamcast games for Game Room.

I mean, come on.

Nintendo wasn't involved with the GameCube port, if that's what you're referring to.

:I Wow what an amazing collection....

#38 Posted by Chris2KLee (2338 posts) -

Is anyone at Sega even trying anymore?

#39 Edited by Undeadpool (4998 posts) -

You raised my hopes and then dashed them QUITE expertly. Well done, Sega!

No Shenmue? No Grandia II? No thanks.

#40 Posted by Jothel (937 posts) -

toy commander, shenmue, power stone 2 would have been nice

#41 Posted by Sammo21 (3552 posts) -

Congratulations SEGA on putting out crap.

#42 Posted by drac96 (674 posts) -

Of all the games they could pick, they picked the ones that are already released. What a great idea!

I wasn't really sure what you meant at first, but I'll go with Skies of Arcadia. Yes, that game's amazing. I also still have 2 copies of it, for the DC and GC.
#44 Posted by Brake (1130 posts) -

I can't wait to not own these games again. For the second time.

I thought of what it was missing and was mildly annoyed.

And then I saw it all in a line and now I'm pants crappingly furious.

WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING, SEGA?!
#46 Posted by Zamir (508 posts) -

I hope Jeff goes on GMA again to talk about this

#47 Edited by TadThuggish (912 posts) -

Hooooly shit, Sega continues to be just about the worst developer/publisher in the world today (and many yesterdays).

Edit: Also, I'm willing to say their version of enhanced is just more of the Sonic Adventure XBLA port.  Add blue bars to the sides, make you pay five more dollars for the marginally improved graphics and true widescreen that debuted on the Gamecube a generation ago.

#48 Posted by animateria (3265 posts) -

Man, too bad they didn't release it on 1/11/11 eh?

The list so far is underwhelming...

#49 Posted by Greenshoes (297 posts) -

So .... weak... need Power Stone!!

#50 Posted by JeanLuc (3608 posts) -

What! No Typing of the Dead?
