I could just as easily say this is jazz, and you wouldn't know the difference. Check it, son!

That was pretty crazy. Reminds me how much I miss my drumkit. :( I'd really like to get an electric drumkit someday so I could play in my apartment but they're so damn expensive!
I'm curious about your technique though, how come you play the hi-hat with your left arm and not with your right? If you're left-handed wouldn't it better to have the hi-hat on the right side of the drumkit? *confused*
Btw, I love the cat. :D
I think it's more the crossing of the arm that confuses me than playing the hi-hat with this hand or that hand. Obviously I can play Rock Band drums, which typically has the hi-hat on yellow, or the right hand. If I were to put the hi-hat on the right side of me, I'd also have to play the bass with my left foot, and the hi-hat with my right. That just wouldn't make any sense to me - unless it were a remote hi-hat and I still had the foot pedal for it on the left. Which are way too expensive. It's really not a big deal to me, I can still cross the arm. It's just not as comfortable.
I am left-handed, just for the record. If I had a ride cymbal that would also go on my left.
It's sort of like how most people drive an automatic with their right foot only. I choose to drive two-footed, which means that I assign my left foot to the brake, and my right to the accelerator. A lot of people can't really grasp why someone would do that, but it makes perfect sense to me.
