"Tough one. Topping the list are Peart, Danny Carey, Ginger Baker, Peter Erskine, Matt Cameron, Kieth Moon . . . tough question.I forgot about Bill Ward. He gave Yes such a cool sound, and I agree I can't explain it either.I think I would have to go with, in the end . . . Bill Ward. Don't know exactly why, but there's something about his style that I absolutely love."
John Bonham
"Phil Collins (I will get grief for this, but I have mad love for Genesis)"I knew there was someone else I should have mentioned. Good shout.
"Who's the drummer in the Who? Not good with names.OMG!!!!!!!!!

My top 5 (subject to change, and in no order).
Keith Moon (The Who)
Brann Dailor (Mastodon)
Ian Paice (Deep Purple)
Neil Peart (Rush)
John Bonham (Led Zeppelin)
They are my main influences when it comes to playing drums. Others include Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater), Andrew Foresman (The Fall of Troy), and Matt Cameron (Soundgarden).
I don't know the names of many drummers, but Keith Moon is known to me for a reason.
Also, Dave Grohl's drum work on the Queens of the Stone Age album "Songs for the Deaf" is really spectacular.
"Neil Peart, Nicko McBrain, and Inferno."
THANK YOU!!!! Someone else said Nicko McBrain.
My favorites are (in no particular order)
Neil Pert
Lars Ulrich
Keith Moon
John Bonham
Nicko McBrain
Steven Adler

"Arkthemaniac said:Both are awesome. Don't worry. But I must say Yes's drummer has my preference mainly because of the epicness that is "And You and I". Mmm that sure is a sweet song. I'm going to listen to way too much Yes right now.
Incorrectly speaking of Bill Ward, anyone know the song Supernaut by Sabbath?
That song is magnificent

"GobiasIndustries said:I totally agree. Come to think of it I don't know how I left him off my list. It still blows my mind to think about how perfectly the members of that band worked together."Mmm that sure is a sweet song. I'm going to listen to way too much Yes right now.Aw, hell yeah.

That song is magnificent"I really like his stuff on War Pigs, just because his rhythms on that are so intense and jazzy. That pretty much sums up his style, actually. Intense and jazzy."
I love his drumming on the end of A National Acrobat, it builds it up so much. The Wizard is another great drum song
