Dig Deeper into Duke Nukem Forever

Duke Nukem Forever, the long-awaited sequel to Duke Nukem 3D, was finally released in June 2011, after approximately fourteen years of development. The game was heavily panned for the low-to-abysmal quality of nearly every aspect of its presentation and design.

US Release Date: June 14, 2011

Another football field boss battle?

That's what killed this game, they showed that at an investor conference, and 70% of the guys said, "WTF, we did that already!  Shut it down donkey!"

Oh wait, that's Gordon Ramsey.

I must not be on the bleeding edge of taste anymore, because I thought it looked pretty promising. Early, but promising.

it looked like a cool game, but shitty at the same time.

Whatever
Spiritofon May 11, 2009 at 2:44 p.m.
Mediocre, yes, but FAR better than I thought it might be. I actually liked the look of the of the football field level, even if the visuals look a bit dated.

At a rate of 3 minutes of video for every 12 years in production its no surprise this got scrapped.

I can say that this vid is gonna overfill the Internet

Better than I thought after 12 years of updating.

But it being cancelled has probably done them a favour, now they don't have to worry about it being a total flop. Instead we can all look back and say "What if...".

The pigs looked like awesome enemies to fight.

Putting out a mediocre game every several years is better than never putting out a game. I wonder how much money was wasted developing this game and if any of it can be salvaged by selling off assets and tech.

Could have been the video game answer to planet terror... kinda

Doesn't  look too great. It's probably a good thing it never came out because it wouldn't have lived up to expectations. The enemy AI looks really bad. All the weapons are the same from the looks of it. The only thing new it really had going for it was that it featured real nudity and probably could have garnered it some stupid controversial publicity. But thats just shock value, it has nothing to do with the game.

And how many times does the animation of him getting up and brushing himself off have to be used? But now I'm just nitpicking here.

It didn't look bad, somewhat dated, a little early in production, but not bad.

I woulda played it.

Im SURE someone will pick it up.

Someone release this. Only so we can say, "Hey Duke Nukem came out... let's go on with our lifes"
9mmfistcuffson May 11, 2009 at 2:55 p.m.
you know what that really looks like, it looks like 3d realms got so caught up in "teh Graphix!" that they forgot that Gameplay > Graphics. if they just decided to live with some slightly out dated graphics (that really wouldn't have been noticed or cared about) they might have actually released a game, instead of wasting money for a DECADE.
Krenoron May 11, 2009 at 2:56 p.m.
this game would have made a solid rental, no more than that though
mattysenon May 11, 2009 at 2:58 p.m.
It looks bad only cause its not a finished product, Come on guys easy up on the Duke
VilhelmNielsenon May 11, 2009 at 3:03 p.m.
The worst thing about this whole "3d-realms closing"-deal is, that now I actually wanna play this stupid game. Damn you Duke!
yateson May 11, 2009 at 3:05 p.m.
Doesn't look like it was anywhere near finished. It probably would've been a very average first person shooter but one I'd be willing to play just because I have a bit of a soft spot for Duke.
