Haven't found any other sites up with reviews yet, but I think the embargo just ended, at least in Oz.

Ausgamers.com has a review up, and it isn't very complimentary, although it sounds pretty similar to my experiences so far.

Anyone else found any more reviews?

It's at 57 on Metacritic right now, though with only 6 reviews so far.

    Still...ouch.

They took points off because the game "should have been released 10 years ago". That's pretty dumb.

"Stepping further into the dangerous fields of outdated land, Duke Nukem Forever reeks of a game that should have been released 10 years ago where it could have been appreciated and, more importantly, relevant to the accepted FPS gameplay conventions of the time."

They just mean the game feels outdated.

I'm gunna withhold judgement until American reviews are out. No offense to aussies or anything, but the games main selling point is it's retarded american humor.. Which generally just annoys everyone else.

No sense of humour can overcome poor design decisions.

It might get a few extra points for nostalgia's sake but don't expect too the 4s and 5s to suddenly become 8s and 9s.

I'm surprised I'm actually surprised by how low it's rating. Surely this is what we were all expecting? Yet, for some reason, I was kind of hoping it'd come out as good, if not great.

Might still be fun as some sort of throw back though. Curious to play it regardless. Still, may have got all my crazy out with Bulletstorm already...

    from IGN:

"I'm still playing through at this point for review, so maybe Duke Nukem Forever will get better further in. So far, there's little worthy of praise. It's a clumsily put together game that, even when it tries hard to deliver exciting action set pieces like fights against giant bosses, feels dull and derivative. The only impressive part about Duke Nukem Forever is that it exists as a finished game."

At least one good thing can come of this.  I believe Gearbox owns the Duke Nukem license right?  I hope they give Duke one more real crack but with a proper development cycle that this game clearly wasn't given from 3D Realms.  The pure lack of polish in this game on the technical side and gameplay side is the problem here and not so much Duke Nukem as a character himself (whether you like him or not is purely a subjective matter here).

What I've seen looked at least above average. Damn, this is brutal. I'm curious how it would have rated without this history.

@Rhaknar: To be fair, Brad made the game look 40x terrible.

I played the 1st hour of the game and i liked it so far. The game doesn't try to take itself seriously, its just mindless fun of profanity. One thing i really wish they would worked on is AI. AI at normal difficulty are not anyway challenging at all.

I'll pick this up around 25 or 30 bucks in a steam sale probably.
