I still don't understand collector's editions of anything. Just a bunch of useless junk for people with a "cool stuff" hoarding disorder if you ask me lol.

weird this looks like something fallout new vegas would come with.

It's not "useless junk" for people who are really anticipating the game.  It's like the icing on the cake, cherry on the sundae, etc.

$89 on the PC

#55 Posted by mancide (145 posts) -

Got mine pre-ordered already.

#56 Posted by Sauson (560 posts) -

So awesome. Here's hoping I have the money to pre-order it.

@OllyOxenFree:
I anticipate this game as much as anyone else, but I still don't personally understand the collector's editions extra items craze. If someone gave me a collector's edition of any game, I would immediately sell everything but the game on eBay.
#58 Posted by aurahack (2264 posts) -

If that book has any sort of history on the game's development, I am pre-ordering that shit and standing at the doors on opening day to get it. Like... god damn.

I love collectors editions because it allows me to maintain a museum of game props in my living room. I generally only buy special editions of games that come with a prop from the game(lunchbox/pip boy from fallout, night vision from MW2, remote controlled car from blops), but the development book really sold me on this one

Definite pass. A bunch of useless trinkets for a game that will very likely suck.

#61 Posted by JackSukeru (5899 posts) -

I would get this if it came to Europe.

Unless I was out of bubblegum at that point.

#62 Posted by jking47 (1207 posts) -

Done and done.
I grew up watching my uncle play Duke Nukem, that shit was awesome.
100 bucks is really not that much money.

#63 Posted by KillyDarko (1888 posts) -

Now this is what I call a collector's edition!

#65 Posted by andmm (213 posts) -

No empty bubble gum box and no actual balls of steel? Major let down!

#66 Posted by Vinny_Says (5681 posts) -

this sounds stupid

#67 Posted by Legend (2646 posts) -

I'm a bit disappointed in this tbh.

#68 Posted by mech4399 (106 posts) -

Fuck, not sure if this is going to be the best or worst purchase ever.

#69 Posted by Siphillis (1290 posts) -

I really wanted a snapshot build from each year of development.

Well you're suppose to be out of gum... "
Well then it should come with an empty pack of gum.
#71 Posted by JoeRosa (88 posts) -

I got my copy, Lets Rock!

#72 Posted by Dandroid_Kikaider (17 posts) -

that looks .. awesome!!

#73 Posted by Robocoke (17 posts) -

Is it wrong that I want the book and nothing else, including the game?

#74 Posted by LordXavierBritish (6320 posts) -

$100 says the book is scanned and on the internet day 1.

It's just extra swag.  People like swag- well, apparently not you lol.

Agreed.  Seriously those chinese steel balls with the Nuke Logo on them?  Perfect!  And easy!

The bubblegum box is just a nice idea.  :)

As for what IS included I don't mind it, but I don't care enough to get it.  Will I play the game?  Maybe.  But I'm still not certain it's really REALLY coming out.  :)

" I'd love to see what's in that book on the game's history.  Holy hell, there's a lot of weirdness they could pack in that. "
Yeah, that's about all I'd be interested in. Not worth $100 though.
#78 Posted by RobotHamster (4170 posts) -

I'm on the fence about buying this one, but it's awesome.

#79 Posted by Napalm (9020 posts) -

Brad II be droppin' the ball, this whole set is confirmed at $99.

#80 Posted by sublime90 (527 posts) -

looks cool but $100 is way to much

#81 Posted by MisterMouse (3539 posts) -

the book is the coolest thing about that...

#82 Posted by IkariNoTekken (990 posts) -

UK? UK? UK?!!!
This will cost a fortune to import...

#83 Posted by OneKillWonder_ (1691 posts) -

Can't fucking wait to get this. That bust is so over-the-top that it's a whole new level of awesome.

#84 Posted by CitizenKane (10501 posts) -

If I had the money, I would definitely get this.

#85 Posted by LegendaryChopChop (1169 posts) -

It's only 100 dollars on Amazon... wow. Gonna pre-order this. That bust is worth at least 30 itself, and the game is 60. This is a very well priced edition.

#86 Posted by MordeaniisChaos (5730 posts) -

I wish they were making more. I would buy one but I doubt this will take long to sell out.

#87 Edited by IkariNoTekken (990 posts) -

Would cost me around 120 pounds worth to import...that's not including the inevitable customs costs :(

Will spend all night looking at UK retailer websites...I won't give up hope yet.

EDIT: Checked Amazon UK, nothing. Then checked Shopto.net (my usual retailer) and it's there for£89...BUY IT NOW!!!

#88 Posted by _Horde (837 posts) -

That's crazy... But I love it.

#89 Posted by EoinMason (85 posts) -
@IkariNoTekken:  £89?! That's pretty good for all that!
#90 Posted by MeatSim (10742 posts) -

This collectors edition sure has got a lot of paper in it.

#91 Posted by sam33r (20 posts) -

I am definitely gonig to preorder this, its not a bad deal for the extra $40.

#92 Posted by HeroicDrinkingSong (149 posts) -

I have this weird issue now where I keep thinking Duke looks like Max Headroom.

#93 Posted by YukoAsho (2001 posts) -

I would have liked to see the Balls of Steel pinball game in there too, maybe DN3D on the disc, but this works too.

#94 Posted by 1337W422102 (1003 posts) -

Fucking purchased.

#95 Posted by crithon (3059 posts) -

so, why aren't there steel balls?

#96 Posted by Hamst3r (4437 posts) -

Kinda weird that it doesn't come with:

1. A pack of gum.
2. Balls of steel.
3. Sunglasses - just like Duke's.
4. One of those big buttons, with a nuke design on it, that spouts one liners. "Hail to the king, baby!"

Come on.

#97 Posted by PandaShake (380 posts) -
@crithon:  It would have been great if they included those  therapeutic magnetic balls  where you roll around in your hand. cue cheesy liners, "now you're playing with duke". They're cheap, it should have been in there
#98 Posted by crithon (3059 posts) -
@PandaShake: That's exactly what I was thinking.

" Depending on the price point (I'm going to go out on a limb and say $150-200), this might TOTALLY be worth it. "

It's $99.99.

Also, after the lackluster package of Dead Space 2's collector's edition, publishers will be lucky if I EVER buy another CE.  Moreover, the bust in this picture...despite the attempted perspective shift with the camera positioning and slant of the table or whatever...well, the bust isn't bigger than the game box.
#100 Posted by selbie (1835 posts) -

This edition doesn't need Balls of Steel. It already has the Duke. :3
Not too fussed about the generic playing cards, poker chips and even the bust. It's the books I'd love to read. I'm surprised it's not an entire novel!
