I'm sure some of you noticed, as Patrick just retweeted the PR company for Duke on Twitter. Kind of sad, really....

Ungh, what a shitty thing to say.

I'm confused, who are you calling tacky?

#4 Posted by mylifeforAiur (3482 posts) -

This does reflect mighty badly on anybody associated with this PR company.

Take 2 wouldn't be that stupid...

The PR company threatening to not distribute games to certain reviewers based on their reviews.

Also, anybody else sense the irony about the PR company behind Duke Nukem complaining about reviews being mean?  This is the company marketing the guy who cracks wise to rape.

Waiting to see how long it is before Take 2 releases a statement saying that PR firm went rogue and they won't be employed in the future. Not only is it tacky, it's dumb on their part...unless whoever runs their twitter account is a huge Duke fan, and then it's hilarious.

edit- oh, and trhe PR company just apologized, said they acted out of emotion, and will be issuing private apologies to whoever they secretly-publicly insulted. Nothing to see here...

Fucking seriously? PR agnecy going on twitter and whining is fucking laughable. They need better PR if they are posting dumb shit like that

#9 Posted by ShaggE (6336 posts) -

I don't think "PR" means what they think it means.

#10 Posted by Dany (7887 posts) -

They apologize! Everything is alright now....right?!?!?

Wow, what an asshole.

Reading the recent tweets makes me want to punch the person behind the account, fucking amatuerish

Interesting. Kind of weird. Yes probably a few review sites probably went for the balls instead of the head, but it might be more intelligent for a PR comp. not to telegraph it's more negative impulses. That is unless it is accompanied by heavy Darth Vador type breathing and choking gestures..

You know, like choking the chicken, heh!heh!heh!heh!he....ehhhh,ok.

I was following this as well, and it's disgusting. Not to dredge up old memories, but this PR Firm's stance has a very Kane & Lynch vibe to it. Very disgusting play on their part, and this "apology" is very telling. How DARE you threaten magazines/websites for their reviews of a game. The PR Firms job is to spin things, and they failed at that too. Spin the reviews by saying something like, "This is a resurrection of a classic franchised mostly designed through it's original creators, but completed by Take 2."

Make it a triumph of Gearbox releasing the unreleasable, and spinning the fact that now Duke has found a home that future releases will receive a proper revival. See "TheRednerGroup" I just did your bullshit job for you. It wasn't that hard.

This is disgusting, and insulting. Not just to reviewers, but in general to all those who appreciate journalistic pursuits at any level. Shame on you "TheRednerGroup". You should hire a PR Firm, not to spin this for you, but to show you how to do your damn job.

If anyone needed proof that game reviews are busted, here's a perfect example. Fucking ridiculous - 2K should drop their services or issue a serious apology if they want to maintain any sort of respect.

A few twitter posts made in the the heat of the moment. Rather unprofessional, but nothing to get excited over.

It's amazing; twitter has made it so easy to make the kind of conversational mistakes you used to only find in person online.

Should they be a bully about reviews?  No.     But  in their defense with lines like this   "Its a game with an odious personality, one that could only endear itself to the sociopathic and mentally maladjusted." - Jim Sterling , Destructoid

I seriously don't blame them.     If the reviewer thinks the game is a bad game that is one thing but  the absolute venom being spewed at this game is absurd especially when its being rated lower than games THAT STRAIGHT UP DON'T WORK is just dumb.

You can call the game boring if you want but on a technical level its at least serviceable  and it works.

Seriously, why do people type 'r' and 'b' like that? Are the words 'are' and 'be' so long that you need shorthand? Goddamn, I hate Twitter.

@TheRednerGroup

...based on today's venom.

@PrivateIronTFU: 140 characters is why.  Shorter your words the more you can fit into a message.

Which just proves my point that Twitter is fucking awful.

Well, you can only use 140 characters, so you have to make some abbreviations, and those are the words that have easy abbreviations everyone can understand. If you shortened "reviews" to "rvws" no one would know what you are talking about, so to save a few characters they shorten "are" and "be". It's not a big deal, really.

Ummmmm, how?
#23 Posted by PrivateIronTFU (3874 posts) -

@supermike6: It saves you, what, like two characters? The way I see it is, if you can't fit your original thought into 140 characters, you probably shouldn't be using Twitter to begin with.

#24 Posted by Demoskinos (14574 posts) -
@PrivateIronTFU:  You'd be surprised how often 3 characters matter.

I know this thread was created first, but the alternative has much more detail, so I'm going to redirect the discussion over there.
