Duke Nukem Forever
Game » consists of 14 releases. Released Jun 14, 2011
After approximately fourteen years of development, the heavily infamous sequel to Duke Nukem 3D was finally released, in which the macho Duke must damper yet another alien invasion.
What could have been. Duke nuked forever gameplay footage.
"Why's he always getting up?"Because nothing can keep Duke Nukem down! Well, except for running out of money for development.
"Looks really... generic."So does you mom intill you get her in the sack
"Diamond said:Visually it looked like something out of 2005 to me, reminded me of Perfect Dark Zero, only worse, actually. Doubt it was from 2001, it's too visually nice for 2001. It just looks like an early 2005 game."Looks like it needed another 15 years of development. Duke Forever could have been cool, but this looked extremely early, and frankly pretty bad for what looked done."this could have been taken from as far back as 2001 for all we know."
There might be a lot more to the game than this, but wasn't it a year ago they said they were only 10% done?
Maybe the video was just something out of an animator's portfolio, but the animations themselves didn't even seem to be of modern standards.
It looks pretty last gen in my opinion which places it about the time that the video states, I guess. It looks okay for then but I have to wonder what major changes they made in between the time this footage was in development and 3D Realms collapse. The 3D models in the video reminded me of Prey in it's glossy smoothness, and that's not a complement. Of course, this is hardly a finished product, but come on...how long does it take?

This is obviously unfinnised work.
"PureRok said:Nothing fantastic, but it looked okay. Seems like it still needed to be polished up, and the lines from Duke just seem to be placed in there."Looks really... generic."So does you mom intill you get her in the sacki assume duke nukem forever is the same way......."

The game looked pretty fun. Especially the part where he got up and took a good 5 seconds to brush himself off. Total Duke Nukem.
I think it looked like a lot of fun too! Just shooting dudes with that shotgun and all the boss fights. I definitely miss the FPS that never took itself seriously. Maybe that will come back some day but I guess not anytime soon!
Dude! Awesome! This looks just like I wanted it to look (although needs more night city street levels).

It doesn't look half bad. The animations and graphics are a big old looking but that could easily be explained by this footage being a few years old. Who knows what the stuff the did recently looks liks.
I have a feeling Duke Nukem Forever would do about how Too Human did. It would come out, play and look ok, be decently engaging, and sell pretty good, but nothing that would justify its decade of development.
didn't notice until now but instead of a health bar he has an Ego meter is that from the original because it really dont remember that
No, Duke did NOT have an ego meter in Duke 3D... but it sounds awesome and hilarious...
Honestly, this footage is pretty awesome... remix of the original theme... the whole flipping-off sequence... the return to the football field... the new lines from John Galt... the strip club
If you're not paying attention to the graphics, it doesn't look half-bad... and it actually looks like a Duke Nukem game SHOULD look...
I hope if another company picks up the game, they just build on top of all this stuff...
Looks badass, but I don't get what they were working on for all this time, other then porting all of this from quake engine to unreal and so on
It was a work in progress, it probably wasn't even in alpha yet. Of course the graphics are crude, they weren't meant for the public. DNF started development over a decade ago and have used several game engines, which probably mean they would have to redo all the assets. They probably should've just picked an engine and gone for it years ago now.
"After watching the video... wow, DNF would have sucked. I can clearly tell the game would suck because of the reload animation for the shotgun... it was horrible. It was a very bland and boring shotgun reload animation...."So your judging the entire game and 12 years of work on the reload animation of the shotgun.....
What are you guys talking about? This may not technically look incredible, but you can't deny the fucking shere awesomeness. Its Duke Nukem goddammit.
