Dust 2 (de_dust2) is easily one of the most popular maps of the Counter-Strike franchise, and has remained basically unchanged since its first appearance in Half Life: Counter-Strike. The map is located in a sandy desert scene with stone walls and buildings surrounding the area. It is a demolition map with bombsites A and B.
Bombsite A is located on a terrace, declining down into counter-terrorist spawn and the long stretch of land leading to terrorist spawn, called "long" for short. There is a walkway above CT spawn called "short" which leads onto bombsite A. People at the end of short can be seen by people on the down side of the terrace, coming from CT spawn or long. On the terrace, there is a only small area where the bomb can be planted. This area faces both long and short. There are crates around this area that can be used to take cover from either area or partial cover from both.
Bombsite B is an enclosed area to the right of CT spawn, directly opposite to bombsite A. There are two entrances into the area. One is a tunnel that comes from T spawn and the middle of the map, and the other is a double door coming from the opposite area, bombsite A and CT spawn. This bomb site is easy to defend for both teams because of its various cover spots and hiding places, but can quite easily be bombarded with flashbangs and grenades as well. The bomb is specifically planted in a corner of the enclosement, directly below a peep hole in the top of the wall. The site faces the tunnel entrance, and is parallel to the double door entrance from CT spawn. Bombsite B also has crates to use as cover when planting the bomb.
