CCP Games have revealed that Dust 514 will be distributed via digital means only, meaning the game will not be getting a retail release.

When speaking to Hilmar Veigar, the CEO of CCP in LA, it became apparent that Dust 514 will be arriving as a download only title, ”Our infrastructure is deep. That’s why we’re going digital distribution only” he told ShopToNews.

Dust 514 is an MMOFPS set in the Eve universe, which was crafted by CPP for the popular PC MMO, Eve online. The game will be CCP’s first since the 2003 MMO and will be available exclusively on PS3, next year.

Hell if it's going to be all micro transaction crap it should be free.... I hate these things because I will never waste money buying items in a game (or paying monthly fees for that matter) so I can't possibly stay competitive in a game like this.

It will be interesting to see how the two games link up, or do not link up. In some ways I like the idea that they way this game works might put some players off. EVE prides itself on people saying, "You play EVE...Well, that's not a typical MMO!" and it would be nice if Dust 514 were the same way, "You play Dust? Damn, that game a bit too much for me."

If Dust 514 were interesting, I would pay yearly fees. If it were interesting, I would buy equipment or replace equipment by purchasing ISK?

At a certain point, it is worth some 'price' to play or be a part of something DIFFERENT. At a certain point 15 million other people playing a game in a turn-off, and that's the point where playing with a few hundred thousand dedicated players becomes attractive.

No I think it's already confirmed that it will be free to play, but you'll probably have to pay for every single piece of equipment you want so...

I played Eve for a minute and I'm looking forward to checking this out.

What I heard you can buy everything that you can buy with real money with ISK instead. It's your decision if you want to put in the effort of doing the job in game isntead of buying solutions.
