One of the games that unexpectedly impressed me the most back at E3 was the hypercolored twitchy tube shooter Dyad, and not just because its creator Shawn McGrath loves StarCraft as much as I do. From the little I played of it, Dyad seems like it will scratch the same super-fast arcade-style itch as stuff like Geometry Wars and Pac-Man CE DX. Haven't had a good one of those in a while.

Well hey, good news for me, then: all of a sudden, Dyad is slated for release on PlayStation Network next Tuesday, July 17. (Good news for PlayStation Plus members too, who will get 20 percent off the usual $15 price at launch.)

Since I appreciate this sort of exhaustive detail in my game announcements, I'll also pass along that Dyad runs at 60 frames per second, uses lossless audio compression, and will offer a Platinum trophy. Get informed!

And that's just the 60 FPS experience that some of us remember magazines mentioning several times every game review if it had it in the PS1-Saturn-N64 generation.

For real, thanks for this Brad. It's nice to have these kinds of details added in a story so I don't have to go find the details out on my own.

This is an unexpected surprise! Good time for this to be releasing, with not too much going on in the world of video games. Will be getting this for sure.

Only in US? If so, nice job Sony. Probably planning to shit it out like you did Closure, which is still only out in US, 3 months later. It was a game that looked like it had the potential to be the next Limbo but the way it was shit out, I'll be surprised if it's even broken 10k.

I SAID IT - there are no games coming out! You know what I'm playing right now? L.A. Noire! It's pretty good.. I have to wait until AUGUST to finally play something new.

Awesome, any word on a EU release. Not seen it mentioned by the Playstation EU blog which is never a good sign

@dropabombonit: Shawn McGrath has stated on NeoGAF that it will take "at least a month" to make the game Europe compatible. This is somehow connected to Sony's insane QA process. My guess is this will be the next Closure / Pinball Arcade... *sigh*

Maybe it's just me but I feel like 2012 is a much stronger year for downloadable games than 2011. Maybe the games of last year just didn't interest me or were hidden in the depths of Steam but there are already some real heavy-hitters released across all of the downloadable stores.

Have been waiting for this to get released for awhile.
