Since its 1946 founding, Sony has risen from an innovative Japanese electronics company to one of the leading mass media conglomerates around. Like its movie studio and music biz sister-corps, the SCEI divisions (and the PlayStation family) have been huge successes for Sony and its brand recognition worldwide.

Microsoft's effort is obviously way more ambitious, but in practice I can see Sony's being way more appropriate for the kinda games I will want to play. If the Natal isn't able to pick out subtle wrist movements, for example, doesn't that limit it's potential pretty badly?
I agree that they were probably thrown on state without enough prep, so I feel bad for them. It's possible their tech will work as well as Natal and MotionPlus when tuned properly in better demos, but the sloppy presentation made Natal and MotionPlus look far more effective.
WHA-BAM!
In fact, I found this presentation one of the most enjoyable and interesting so far and I think Sony were right to put these guys out there with this stuff even if it is a little early. Seeing this has at least generated interest in the PS3 for me and I'm sure it has for many others as well.
that looked great.
