Kinect Launches November 4 in North America
" I'm actually really impressed with the technology. Kinect is the closest to capturing 1:1 movement I've seen, and the stuff they were doing seemed too elaborate to be pre-choreographed. None of the games shown would have any lasting value for me, though. "I agree. The tech is good, it's just a matter of developers not using it in any interesting ways yet. I definitely think we won't see what the tech is really going to be until perhaps a year or two into it. I could end up as a remote control substitute, a Wiimote derivative or a meaningful way to add small motion control touches to hardcore games. We'll just have to wait and see.
I'm disinterested in Nat... Kinect. They need to show games that are actually worth playing. Given what was shown I would pay no more than 49.95. The tech is interesting but seems a little unresponsive and glitchy in live demos, especially for skeletal mapping stuff. It's basically just a mouse when it comes to dashboard use and I can see it becoming very annoying to use when more than one person is in the room. Basically, they need to do a lot more to get me interested in forking over my cash.
Not giving any mention of the price of a piece of tech coming out in 5 months means it's not going to be a pretty figure. Some of the demos looked fun, but nothing truly compelling. I'm not about to drop a triple digit price on a Kinect plus retail game price for any of the titles they've announced. It's going to take a lot more to get me on board.
I was actually impressed by what they were showing. Its obvious they are trying to lure people in before they drop the price bomb.
Meh. There really wasn't anything shown to sell me on it. It was a pretty weak show all around, regardless of not knowing much about Kinect(lame name by the way). It was pretty standard fair in the way of motion control pushes.
Meh, still early days for its develpment, won't be getting my cash till I see the must have 'killer App'.
They show Gears of War 3, Halo: Reach, MGS: Rising, and people still can't wait to express how dissapointed they are. The show wasn't the second coming, but really what are people expecting out of E3 conferences?
Don't know about Kinect, looked like there was a good 1-2 second delay between movements and the screen...
If it's fun, I'll buy it.
There either aren't enough in-store demos of new stuff, or I don't go to Toys 'R Us as much as I used to.
Possibly both.
The moment someone figures out how to mod kinect to a PC there is going to be a flood of Pornkinect titles. Just you wait and see.
