Ooh, shame...

JoshyLeeon June 8, 2011 at 4:16 p.m.

I'm not really impressed with the new fighters.

EJStyleSon June 8, 2011 at 4:17 p.m.

Finally got that achievement! Couldn't be on a better vid! I'm all about learning Evil Ryu...

Transit3on June 8, 2011 at 4:17 p.m.

@EJStyleS: Almost had it.

Does anyone else feel like they accidentally time travelled back to the 90s with Capcom's third re-release of a Street Fighter game?
EJStyleSon June 8, 2011 at 4:20 p.m.

@BenKweller57 But now we can download it too...welcome to the glistening future!

Get hype for the third time and maybe a few more times down the road.

Having bought the update and spend a lot of time with it, I can honestly say that the package is really not worth the price. There are no trials for the new characters (Trials Mode goes so far as to tell you its not compatible with AE and will switch the game back to Super temporarily), very little effort was put into their stories in arcade mode (there are no rival battle cutscenes, for instance), and I'm not all that impressed with the characters.

Sure Yun and Yang are fun, and Oni was more original than I imagined he would be, but Evil Ryu is completely pointless. He is quite simply Ryu with a bunch of Akuma's normals and specials. He has one new special and a few new combos. If you're one of those people that can justify his inclusion by saying "Well he's not EXACTLY the same as Akuma or Ryu, so it's okay! You're just a noob for not realizing the difference" well then, I feel kinda sorry for you. There are so many other characters they could have gone with from the Alphas or Third Strike, but they went with, literally, a hybrid of Ryu and Akuma and I just don't understand who was asking for that and I honestly can't imagine why anyone would try to defend Capcom including him.

Oni, on the other hand, does offer some new things like his air "dash" move.. and ground pound and that teleport-like slash. He still has a tatsu, shoryuken, and hadoken, but at least they change a bit up. Frankly, I don't like him and think he's a pointless character, but I'm not going to call him out for being as unoriginal as Evil Ryu is like many others have.

$10 would have felt like a better price point than $15  (hell, I'm pretty sure up here in Canada it's more like $20 I paid... $30+tax for 2000 points and it cost 1200... =/). It really feels like the bare minimum amount of effort was put into this update which is disappointing.

That said, I don't regret my purchase as I do play a lot of SF and enjoy it so I'm happy to have the latest version, but with all of the bells and whistles other fighters, like MK or even SF Third Strike Online, are offering, this could have been a perfect opportunity for Capcom to add some more features (besides a fancier replay channel, yay for that I guess... though I've never used it but I'm sure some people do) like more robust training, challenges, or at the very least, trials for the new characters.

Getting hype!
Once I get some money for MS points, that is.
KaosAngelon June 8, 2011 at 4:34 p.m.

Get it.

Been on it with SRK idiots the entire time and I have yet to lose a match with Yun. Got a nice AE cabinet here in my area so it's finally cheaper than paying the buck to play per losing match.

can't wait to finally upgrade my SF4 PC version

needforswedeon June 8, 2011 at 5:03 p.m.
goddammit Capcom, you fuckers just keep finding easy ways to get more and more of my money...I simply can't resist Capcom fighting games!  Is this DLC? This looks awesome as hell of course, Yun and Yang? Evil Ryu? Who I assume must be, what, Shin Akuma?  I mean...it's Street Fighter, it's an even bigger improvement when I thought SSFIV was the ultimate unbeatable Street Fighter...but if this is somehow full price, then I'd have to say shame on you Capcom.  However, that seems unlikely, this looks more like DLC, and I hope it is.
Dan_CiTion June 8, 2011 at 5:06 p.m.
@PixelPrinny: They also added new icons, titles, and online features, not just 4 new characters with new OPs & EDs.

Anyway, AE is great.
MrMazzon June 8, 2011 at 5:22 p.m.
