whos with me?
E3 2011
Concept »
The 2011 Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) took place at the Los Angeles Convention Center in Los Angeles, California on June 7-9.
Not a single game that im interested in was announced at E3
yes but i came back but im thinking of leaving. the creative leads at game co companies need to be replaced. the average guy here on this forum could come up with a better game premise thn 99% of the stuff announced.
There's a few titles that I'll be looking at. Not the best E3 for me though so far. Still time and still lots of information to filter out.
Dunno if they were actually announced at this E3 but Bastion and From Dust look cool. Part of my point is that you can't look at E3 keynotes and then go "yeah that's all the games coming out". There's other venues, other developers, and things not mentioned in those press conferences. Maybe a lot of indie games and whatever else is out there aren't for you either but you kinda just seem like you're being a drama queen over press conferences.
Nothing blew me away because everything that got press time I already knew about before the show started, and everything new was a stupid Kinect/Move game or, in the case of Microsoft, it was Gears/Halo number 353463634634 that I don't care about. That said, there is a ton of games coming out this year that I'm looking forward too, but they just are not getting press time because they are not the big shooter all the cool kids like, and that's all these dam companies want to talk about.
hit me! Show me what your brilliant mind would bring to the table.

well tell me what NEW games were announced that you liked?Tons. I'll start you with Overstrike, though.
that new Brother in Arms game looks kinda cool.
Far Cry 3 looks insane. Have I told you how insane it was?
erg Aliens Colonial Marines? Kinda pumped for that.
that Muramasa/OdinSphere developer new game with big boob/butt ladies looks kinda nice
Adventures of Young Lara Croft makes the wait for 2012 unbearable.
I wuv game developers. They are kinda cool & overworked people.

This is bullshit, sure some could come up with a more unique idea but they can not make a viable game that is actually fun.

What he said!
Just because you have a 'fun' concept doesn't mean you can turn it into a full fledge retail product.
All you arm-chair devs can go eat a duck.

Your ideas are intriguing to me and I wish to subscribe to your newsletter.
Here is one idea: Stalker type game that takes place during the lebanon civil war. you got hezbollh, you got alam, you got the druzes the christians israel all these factions waring and the whooe place is a one big battleground.
or if its too controversial you couild use the liberian civil war.

I'm excited for Luigi's Mansion 2.
Overstrike, Far Cry 3,, Band of Brothers, Luigi's Mansion.
Also, dude. You actually thinking that any one of us here could seriously develop a game ourselves better than anything out there just speaks to your ignorance of games in general, which is why I'm not surprised to hear that you "left". You clearly have no respect for the medium.
overstrike? are you guys serious? it looks like a game for 7year olds.
No im talking about NEW games announced for the first time like halo 4.
Luigi's Mansion 2, Mario Kart 3DS, Halo 4, Farcry 3, and Fable: the journey. Tons more games that weren't announced here but that the extra info got me excited for.
Dark Souls and Skyrim. It's not tough to be excited about either.
If we're talking solely unannounced titles, I'd say the new Pixeljunk "game".
yeah ive seen loads at E3 that has given me a gaming hard on. Skyrim, Batman, BF3, Dark Souls, Uncharted 3, Ninja Gaiden 3, SWTOR, Twisted Metal, Tomb Raider, Bastion, The Journey... plenty.
maybe gamings just not for you any more.
Does Uncharted III not count? Because it's going to be fucking awesome.
And bro. Lego City. Srsly. Lego City. HOW ARE YOU NOT PUMPED?
While I don't think we need a new Halo game yet, I'm still pretty excited about Halo 4, it's the only FPS I'm still interested in playing.. Nintendo had a lot of good announcements too, Lego City Stories finally looks like an evolution of the Lego series and a Smash Brothers sequel is always big news, even if there was nothing of it what so ever.
Not many new games announced at e3 these days . Still extremely excited for games like Bioshock Infinate and The Journey.

Darksiders 2
That was announced almost last year.
I'm still hoping we get that rumoured Legacy of Kain reboot/sequel/collection..
This is the most popular fallacy amongst forum-level game criticism, that a game has to be "new" with a unique premise or genre or mechanic, otherwise it's shit etc. In all forms of cultural production, nothing is new and almost everything is recycled. To pretend otherwise is to delude oneself. Isn't it enough for a game to be fun, well-told, and mechanically well-executed? Innovation is an ideology, not an unquestionable value.

So your idea is to rip off another idea? Well done, you truly are a game developer.
If I need to name a game. I'll chose Dragon's Dogma. Capcom's take on Demon's Souls. Like Demon's Souls meets Monster Hunter meets drop-in/drop-out co-op. Extremely sexy. Look at these videos...
Modern core gaming doesn't get more core than Dragon's Dogma. It's everything core gaming has to be. That's nerd-gasm material right here. If this doesn't move you, better pull the trigger on your gaming life.
