    Seriously?

Those sons of bitches buy the exclusive broadcasting rights, hence everyone without SPIKE doesn't get to see livestreams of it? That's like everyone outside of the states! At least not without going out of my way finding 'pirate' streams of SPIKE on the net?

Was that really necessary? It's not like my favorite news show of the year. E3 is good news and I want to be live when it breaks. Now all that's left is bad news of earthquakes and alien invasions. *cries himself to sleep*

I'm pretty sure gametrailers has all of them. Same parent company or something.

Broadcast means TV to me, it's not necessarily the same as the internet.

@mracoon: just saying that he can still watch them, I think. Unless gt is US only.

Pretty sure all this means is that its Spike instead of G4.  The companies will likely have direct feeds again.

I hope so. They're not quite clear on the topic in today's 'Invisible Walls'.

If they stream both EA's and Microsoft's conferences live on GameTrailers for everyone worldwide, then it's no big deal (at least if it's a rocksolid service). Redundancy of service brings security. I had 2-3 streams open in prior years, just to have back-ups when one cut out.

Either way. Quite uncool to monopolize what's like the most exciting gaming-related moments of the year.

Having the TV rights to an event is nothing new. Super Bowl, World Series, Oscars. It's all the same think really. This time it's for a Video Game conference. Not exactly the same caliber, but the same idea.

If I don't get to see these two events live because of this shit, I'm gonna be pissed.

If somebody would have the audacity to buy exclusive rights to a mostly 'promotional event', it's gotta be SPIKE. What a bunch of greasy cunts.

Really hope I'll get to make this work out for me nontheless.

I would assume it's just TV, and doesn't change all the websites streaming it. During the latest Feedback over at G4 they were talking about getting some kind of awesome 360 degree camera and setting it up in each press event. So on the website you can use your mouse to pan the camera around and look at whatever you want during the E3 event. I doubt they would spend the money on a contraption like that if they couldn't stream it.

Pretty sure that's just for tv. You'll still be able to watch the streams on IGN, Gametrailers, etc.

I cancelled my cable years ago. I haven't missed it as the internet exists. I'm sure IGN, Gamespot, Gametrailers, and many many more gaming sites will have live feeds of the conferences. If you want to watch it on TV, you'll have to go spike though.

    Always.

You can still watch Gamespot's ustream or a bunch of other websites. I've never cared to watch E3 on TV, its always interrupted by commercials every five minutes.

    These conferences are practically commercials.

So expect commercials in between big commercials that show commercials.

I'll probably stream it over GT anyways. It's cool that people watching TV can see it too.

I REALLY hope that is TV only, maybe Patrick will post some news story thing soonish explaining this ordeal.  Spike's done nothing but bad for video games in my opinion.  The VGAs are pathetic.

This is dumb anyways, why would you want only one company to show your stuff when what you're showing is practically a big ass advertisement for your upcoming stuff.  Jesus.

As long as it's still online on several sites in good quality (i.e. GameTrailers), whatever.

What type of technophobe watches the E3 press conferences on TV? Step into the 21st, anybody who cares about this.

@KaosAngel: Last time I watched a press conference on G4 it was commercial free. That's a deep cable channel though. SPIKE will probably be on commercial at every cool announcement.

By doing this they've reminded me that it will be broadcast on TV, which is great.

I believe in a few years (maybe next year) Spike is fully going to take the broadcast rights of E3 away for G4. From the ESA's perspective Spike has a bigger audience G4, I think, so it makes sense to show it there.
