    E3 2012

    Concept »

The 2012 Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) took place at the Los Angeles Convention Center in Los Angeles, California on June 5-7.

E3 has shown to me upcoming games are bow mad.

We go so long without many games using bows, we are all waiting for the true Rambo 3 game. Yet now we get 4 or more games that are using bows a lot.

    Crysis 3.

    Tomb Raider

    Far Cry

    Assasin Creed

What other games are going to use bows? Last of us?

Lets list the games as they are shown at E3.

    Altho....Gunswords?

    The Skyrim expansion.

And Gears of War has a bow-type weapon as well, though I seem to have forgotten what it's called and I don't think it was shown in the trailer.

Bows and arrows are bad ass, that's why I have one. Well no actually it's for the zombie apocalypse but still, you know.

You can also add WoW to your list, one of the big new features is that Hunters now only use bows/guns, can't use any melee or staff weapons.

Don't forget 3 major blockbusters this year have heavily featured/will heavily feature archery.  Katniss in Hunger Games, protagonist in Brave, and Hawkeye in the Avengers.

It's the Year Of The Bow Yo'

@believer258: GoW has always had the Torque Bow. I'm not sure if that's it because I haven't seen the new bits of footage, but the bow has always been there in Gears.

What? No, I meant that the Skyrim expansion will still have bows and arrows in it, and Gears of War has the Torque Bow.

I might have to hand you that latter one, though. I never could tell that it had a trigger in the game, and now that I see a picture of it, I can't tell if it's really a crossbow or really a bow and arrow.

In Dawnguard, crossbows are the new thing. Unless you're thinking that the dragonbone weapons they mentioned might include a bow (that would be awesome). Don't know about Gears.

I don't mind it too much. Bows in videogames are usually fun and rewarding to use. I'd much rather have year of the shotgun, though.

I didn't mean crossbows. I meant the bows that are already in Skyrim - the ones you can use right now. Since you can (presumably) carry them into the expansion, I figured I would include them.

Oh, okay. I got confused since bows aren't part of the new content, even if they're already in Skyrim. Gotcha.

Yes we will have to remember for 2013 Awards. To urge Bow of the year award....however we all have short attention spans and will forget it. Also....as people have hinted and my friend pointed out. Year of the Bow is a twitter thing...I dont follow twitter. However without our urging it seems possible the award will happen.

Edit:Ok Jeff on the Bombcast has just said "This is part of something I like to call Year of the Bow, bows of every kind." So I think we are going to get that award.
