So ... it's kind of weird seeing Nintendo with the Xbox controller. Did they make some sort of deal? That is a seriously, blatantly obvious copy. I mean, good for them for realizing what works, but doesn't Microsoft have trademarks/copyrights that could lead to problems?

Missed opportunity to call it UMiiverse disappoints me greatly. Also that whole wara-wara thing is going to be full of dong doodles day 1.
Well - homegrown facebook built into the console ftw?
Actually, could lead to the best leaderboard and challenge system implemented so far. Like an extension onto the XBox Live side of things. It does make the tablet a lot more sensible though, you would not want to do facebook off a x360 pad (even with the little chat addon dealie).
That said, the existence of a real game pad - assuming it is not plugged into another controller - is enough to sell me on it. Nintendo + social still seems to have a high creep factor though, so I bet this thing has amazing parental control locks that have to be set over several screen on first startup.

I still don't think any of the Heads at Nintendo understand anything. This just feels like old men trying too hard.
I said the same thing about the DS. 150 million units sold. Now I'm a Nintendo believer.

Um, you're allowed to make a controller that resembles another one. Wait until you see Xbox Smart Glass tomorrow.

I want to play with Grandpa.
No!! Grandpa is my best friend, not yours! Isn't that right non-specific action figure?

Even my little brothers don't understand this shit. What audience are they even aiming for?
The families that only own a Wii, and the kids have been asking for an Xbox but the parents don't want to venture into the scary world outside of wholesome Nintendo.

Throwing porn at the tv screen while the family is having tea.
I can already see it.
Man, there's just so much... so much......
Oh there was that bit where they dude was writing the word "My" and hit the M key and then instead of hitting the Y key, is very close to M. But instead he reaches over to the auto-suggested words instead to hit the auto-word that says My...... fuck................
Mii verse seems to be Nintendo making a Facebook and Twitter solely for their platform that they control. Which is certainly an approach.
That was pretty cool though, and now I'm intrigued by Tuesday rather than watching out of a sense of completeness.

So anyone know if it'll be archived anywhere? Only got to see the last 7 minutes.

Getting past the Wara Wara Miiverse Grandpa stuff, I think the New Super Mario Bros. Mii looks a bit better visually.

It weirds me out when I read comments on other sites/chats saying things like "That video made me SO EXCITED for the Wii U!!!! NINTENDO HAS WON E3!!!!" from so many crazy people.
I mean... all they really showed was a message board and user messaging system.
I could understand if someone was new to the internet and had never heard of messaging friends before... except they were singing its praises on a message board in the first place, so I don't think it's that. I am really quite confused!
i think it has a lot of potential, and could be great. but we will have to wait and see if it will all pan out. As far as the controls I dont think anything is "final" yet. Seems like in game Nintendo Twitter.
That video was hilarious, but it was a little self aware not taking itself too seriously.
Their promise for more social network features is really ambitious. It's a strange move for Nintendo, considering how limited their networking features was this generation. And now they want to have their own Twitter-like service? I'm intrigued, but it's I want to know more about how games will implement it.

What's up with that controller? I can now imagine someone trying to play a TPS or action game trying to use your index finger under your thumb to press B? ... yeah good luck with that.
I've never done that, on any controller. My index fingers stay on the triggers while my thumbs alone take care of the sticks and face buttons. I'm trying to imagine what you're talking about. You're holding your right hand like a claw or something?
Perhaps I'm odd one out here, but doing that seems wildly uncomfortable anyway.

By that I mean when you hold a controler (Xbox , Dualshock) your thumbs are always down while you fingers take the upper part of the controler , but in this case one of your thumbs needs to be higher than the other? ... I don't know looks kinda weird to operate to me.
BUHAHHAHAHAH!!!
I had to pause when i saw the Wii U Pro Controller!!!
HAHHAHAA!!!!
Oh my, it's just, i don't even know what to say, it's like they thought, "ok so, Sony has both analogs down, Microsoft put one of those analogs up, so we will take the next step forward and...
PUT BOTH ANALOGS UP!!!
BUAHHAHAHA!!!
It just looks so funny!!!

The thumbs are still in control of the entire face of the controller, exactly like how controllers are now except the thumbs have to go down to press buttons instead of up. Index fingers are only used for shoulder buttons and triggers, unless you're crazy.
I'm definitely intrigued by all this Miiverse business, but it's about time we saw some damn games running on this system. Tuesday should be very interesting.
@rebgav: The left stick was also elevated on the Gamecube controller. I don't really see this configuration as being anything too unusual.

Ah. "Upper part" means the triggers, then? My mistake.
It's not as weird as you think, though. In the case of the Dualshock, the only time your thumbs are so aligned is when they're on both sticks at once. Arguably most of the time, but certainly a lot of it, your left thumb is on a stick and your right thumb is hitting the higher-placed face buttons -- and as such, are horizontally unaligned. The same is true if you're playing an Xbox game with the d-pad as your primary module (fighting games, in my case). Granted not many people do the latter.
Back in the day, I had the same concern as you, only with the Dualshock. Seemed weird indeed, but it turned out not to be an issue at all once I got my hands on it. Seeing as how this is just the Dualshock upside-down, I think it'll be fine. It'll only be the left thumb above the right, instead of the other way around.
That was a pleasant video that should have been at least 10 minutes shorter. I'd still probably find myself hanging on every word he's about to say. Despite that, it was successful. I'm looking forward to what Nintendo's gonna be showing this week. Hopefully it won't just be a rehash of these 30 minutes and that one purpose of this was to get some of the boring stuff out of the way.
