Think There Will Be Actual Reveals During E3?

#1 Posted by Jayzilla (2561 posts) -

Do you guys think there will be actual reveals during E3 this year or did we get all the reveals pre-show and then we will just get info on what was already blurted out to the press?

#2 Posted by Subjugation (4720 posts) -

I'm sure there will be some, but it sounds like a fair bit of E3 this year is already a known quantity. I think at this point it will just be more about getting media of said known quantities. I'm still holding out for some awesome surprises but I don't think there will be many.

I'll tell you one thing: if there isn't a Darkstalkers 4 reveal, Seth Killian may end up 'missing' until they do announce it...

Some, not a lot.

Reveals at events are pretty much impossible with the freedom that information travels at nowadays. Most companies hardly even try anymore. EA knew they were never making it to the conference before someone figured out what they were doing.

People figure out the VGA announcements days and hours before the show. Eventually we'll get to where Hollywood is at with scripts and contract signings being immediately available.

I dont know about how many actual reveals there will be but if Sony or Microsoft so much as say "Hey, new console in the works" I will be literally vibrating in my seat.

#7 Posted by SmilingPig (1337 posts) -

This year is the year that the Phantom makes its debut, it will be the first true next gen console.

#8 Posted by SmilingPig (1337 posts) -

I don't think that Sony or Microsoft will tell people: `You can stop buying our games now and start saving for our new console that will come out in November 2013.`

#9 Posted by Blackout62 (1340 posts) -

Well obviously we can't tell you or it wouldn't be a revelation.

#10 Posted by ImmortalSaiyan (4676 posts) -

I hope Microsoft and Sony each have at least one game to reveal. Nintendo probably has a few.

Half Life 3. Anyone? ...No?

Nintendo did that last year!

The only thing I ever really look forward to at E3 are the new IP reveals. I don't care about Gears of War 45, Call of Duty 175: Black Ops 39, or any other sequel, to be honest.

#14 Posted by Little_Socrates (5677 posts) -

Pretty sure we got all the previews just beforehand. I think Microsoft and Sony have one reveal each, though Sony has outed that it's showing something by Quantic Dream, right? And Nintendo will have a few surprises because they always do, whether good or bad.

#15 Posted by hershelgeorgelives (78 posts) -

I doubt it. None of the big 3 have any games left that they haven't announced. Maybe Ubisoft will have some.

Retro Studios will reveal their "massive" game that "everyone wants them to do"

New Xbox.

They've already confirmed there won't be one at E3. Besides, why would they be hyping up games like Halo 4 and the new Gears of War, if they're suddenly about to all be overshadowed about next-gen tech?

It doesn't make sense for there to be new consoles on show this year and I can pretty much guarantee there won't be (not counting the Wii U, of course). It doesn't make sense on a marketing, consumer or business level.

Nintendo will announce something, no doubt, I have a feeling Gears of War Judgement is the biggest new thing on Microsoft's stage this year though, so I expect nothing significant new from them.

Valve announce stuff on their own terms. I have a feeling we'll see it within a year, but not as a part of a major games convention.

Yes.

#23 Posted by Nilazz (613 posts) -

After seeing some tweets from Sam Lake I'm pretty sure we'll see Alan Wake 2.

#24 Posted by Crash_Happy (670 posts) -

@Jayzilla: Pre-show. They get to 'control the message' better that way. Or at least they think they do. Doing it that way certainly means the potential for two reveals though, and PR like that.

Isn't Kojima doing a little something something? I don't know if I want it to be MGS5 though. Snake needs some rest, but I'm psyched to see what the Fox engine's being used for.

There's always one claiming to have insider knowledge, huh.

#27 Posted by Deranged (1837 posts) -

I'm hoping so. I'm sick of everything being revealed before-hand. Takes out all the excitement.

#28 Posted by EXTomar (4721 posts) -

I'm sure something will happen because they simply can't help themselves with all of the attention faced that way. But I also suspect that this year any announcement short of "new console" is going to be wildly overrated by them as well.

#29 Posted by Daiphyer (1337 posts) -

Well we'll see Black Ops 2, Alan Wake 2, Gears of War: Judgement, and a bunch of Wii U games.

I think Sony will primarily focus on the Vita.

#30 Posted by nickux (1385 posts) -

Sure there will be. But even if each company reveals several big surprises, I'm sure people will stay say they're unimpressed, bored, or let-down by E3.

Ubisoft has at least 2 surprises announced for their conference. One of which will be a new IP. There's an official list floating around the webs, with the 'Games of E3 2012'. I'd be surprised if there aren't more though. I bet Nintendo has a surprise or two for the WiiU - revealing their 1st party software lineup.

Hell - I bet Microsoft and Sony tease the next generation. It's time.

I think there will be plenty. A lot of announcements over the last week or two has me thinking that companies are getting out of the way of something big.

#33 Posted by connerthekewlkid (1832 posts) -

i know so many people have said this but..... battlefront 3

#34 Posted by tourgen (4493 posts) -

hope so.  some new non-sequel stuff is what I'm in it for.

that is why i was asking if you think there will be reveals. I wasn't asking if you could use your non-existent ESP super powers to tell me what the reveals would be. But, I like your ESP nonetheless.

#36 Posted by RedRoach (1191 posts) -

More and more every year people are announcing (or it's getting leaked) what's going to be at E3, like NFS: Most Wanted. It's certainly less exciting then it being announced at the conference. My favourite one in recent memory was Microsoft 09, they had announcement after announcement. But as long as we get to see gameplay first at E3 I'm fine. If companies start releasing gameplay demos a week before E3 then there's really no point in watching the conferences.

Though I don't believe we will see any hardware announcements.  I am positive that there will be behind closed doors presentations for the next gen systems.
