Earl Monroe was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He went to college at Winston-Salem State and averaged over 20 points over three of his four college years. In the NBA he played for the Baltimore Bullets (now the Washington Wizards) and the New York Knicks. He was NBA Rookie of the Year in 1968, an NBA champion in 1973, and elected to the Hall of Fame in 1990.
