Is this EA's new retarded advertising strategy?

#1 Posted by sofakingcool (355 posts) -

I'm looking at an IMDB page with a big EA logo and some helicopter but no indication what so ever as to which game is being advertised.... is this EA's new strategy?

#2 Posted by Barrock (3533 posts) -

You really shouldn't pirate movies.

#3 Posted by triple07 (1196 posts) -

@Barrock: Haha at first I thought you were crazy and thought IMDB was a pirate site and then I saw it. Funny

#4 Posted by Dany (7887 posts) -

The Run?

#5 Posted by fazzle (305 posts) -

Plus I'm sure if you would have scrolled up to the top of the page you would have seen a banner for The Run

#6 Posted by Xolare (1284 posts) -

The Super 8 Blu Ray rip was the funniest thing in that picture.

#7 Posted by BraveToaster (12589 posts) -

A lot of companies do that, what's the problem?

#8 Posted by Ghost_Cat (1439 posts) -

Super 8 deserves your money. Don't rip it.

You're at 1280 width... what do you expect?

Also this. You're not a very savvy PC user, OP. Just stop.

You're also downloading Ice Road Truckers? REALLY?! Ice Road Truckers? You are wasting your bandwidth downloading episodes of fucking Ice Road Truckers?

#11 Posted by Willin (1280 posts) -

That IceFilms.info website you got up there looks like it fell out of 1999.

I was wrong. THAT is indeed more hilarious. Also pretty funny that Dennis Quaid's illegitimate brother here either recognized the acronym or took the episode title as a clue and pieced it together. I would be saddened if it was just a Google job.

BTW, this chick gave me the best Goog-job the other night. That's what she called it, so it's totally not racist.
#13 Posted by iam3green (14390 posts) -

pretty weird stuff. there is probably another banner somewhere with the game.

Not everybody has a bandwidth limit. I for example do not.

#15 Posted by RockinKemosabe (619 posts) -

Why were you on the IMDB page for The Help in the first place?

#16 Posted by Commisar123 (1793 posts) -

I agree that the colors look like The Run, also pirating things is bad

I'm not going to deny it, I do watch a little Pawn Stars every now and then. It's not that bad for a poor-man's Antique's Roadshow. Anyway, they constantly show ads for that Ice Road Truckers show, which is apparently not even about white trash meth addicts trying to make a year's wages in a few weeks from driving semi trucks over frozen bodies of water anymore! It's now about white trash meth addicts trying to make a year's wages in a few weeks by driving semi trucks through the mountains of South America or some shit.

Actually, yes. This thread with a screenshot of an unnamed EA title and IMDB movie at the 'focus' and using the periphery movie piracy screen capture as a ploy to spread awareness of NFS The Run and The Help and reduce sales for the Super 8 bluray. This whole thing is post-viral marketing at its finest.

It does? I saw Super 8 in theaters and it totally bored the crap out of me. I expected it to be "totally mint!" but instead it was a violent E.T. film and nothing more.

#23 Posted by sofakingcool (355 posts) -

Super 8 was terrible, There was no banner at the top of the screen... now what game is it not that it matters at this point.

#24 Posted by benpicko (2008 posts) -

You didn't even torrent the movies? You just went to some site and direct downloaded it?

Neither do I and I still consider it a waste of bandwidth. You've slightly slowed down your neighbors for Ice Road Truckers. Shaaaame.

Complain about ad layout, use resolution from 1998.

This is twenty-fucking-eleven. Come on.

#28 Posted by sofakingcool (355 posts) -

what is everyone yammering about? my reso is 1366 by 768, its a lap top ppl cut me a break and I wouldn't have to download IRT if Comcast would put it on demand like they did with the last 10 episodes.

Someone who is into videogames sees videogame related add. How odd.

The only way this could be better is if you were downloading Sister Act 2 in 50MB parts from YouTube.

I don't think most of us are really shitting on him, just ribbing. Of course, I can't speak for anyone else, but that's the vibe I'm getting.

Being a pirate is not cool. There are a lot of people who has families that depend on the money they make from their films. If you can't support them, then don't watch their movies.

We have a 50 Gig limit on our internet. Needless to say we use it up in the first week or two of the month. Canadian ISPS are greedy assholes.
