Dr. Elizabeth Cross was a horticulturalist on the USG Ishimura, working in Hydroponics on the ship. Consequently, she was one of the first to become aware of the Leviathan occupying Food Storage. When the Necromorphs began killing everyone on the ship, she tried to meet up with her boyfriend, Jacob Temple, one of the few other survivors. She leaves several audio logs around the ship, which Isaac Clarke picks up along his missions. Unlike Temple or Clarke, she was generally unaccosted while moving through the ship. Along with Temple, she tried to escape the doomed ship, but the two were caught by Dr. Mercer, who killed them by stabbing a metal spike into their head in preparation to be turned into Necromorphs.
