Endless Space looks Amazing!

I just saw this game on steam's pre-order special. It looks like it's a TBS meets RTS, meets Space Sim of sorts. Great presentation!

Here's a 30 minute quick look on youtube:

UPDATE: I bought it today, and have been playing the alpha.

It bares more of a resemblence to Civ than SoaSE. I've never played GalCiv, which could be similar. The combat is interesting, but most agree that it's too simple right now, but fans/devs are chatting on the forums regarding how to make it more complex but retaining the board/card-gamey quality behind it. The Alpha is only single player only, up to 8 players. The multiplayer will be launched in the coming month(s). I really enjoy it!

The game revolves around managing colonization vs militarization vs technology/science vs peace/war/trade negotiations, in a nut-shell.

It's a Turn-based strategy through and through, but the combat plays out like a card-battle game that I can't remember a reference too. No direct control.

Says the video is private, which is a shame, because you totally piqued my interest

I'm not having a problem with the video but you might want to try this excellent video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MM1AFpN6rh4&feature=related

It's not a full LP, but he does a good job at showing off what the game is. The biggest selling point for me is that awesome UI.

Great! Shared in OP :)

Been messing around with the Alpha on Steam for the last couple of days. It's pretty great, particularly for this stage of development. I have a couple quibbles, but I'm quite pleased with the purchase.

They should have called it "Alive Space" just to fuck with people.

Wasn't Endless Space that Platinum DS game?

Wait, Infinite Space, sorry.

Space is big.

Looks like Sins of a Solar Empire but hopefully more approachable. And apparently turn-based? I could deal with that.

A better sins of a solar empire? sold.

Trade is dust based? Bought. I must control the dust.

@Protome: I wonder, is it more SoaSE or Galactic Civilizations?

In any case, it looks pretty neat. I will probably buy this tonight.

Going to buy it ASAP

For me, I didn't like SoaSE too much, and I also wasn't a fan of Civ 5 too much. It bares more of a resemblence to Civ than SoaSE. I've never played GalCiv, so I'm not sure what that's like. The currency in the game is Dust, that's how you pay for and retain employment for your heroes, advanced fleet maneuver/weapon cards, and how you pay for teching up/building ships. There are four total resources: Dust, Science, Food, and Technology.

I have the greatest idea for making EA mad:

Undead Space!

Interesting, but those type of games are way over my head/patience level.

I actually played about seven hours of it a couple of days ago. It's definitely somewhere in between. It's turn based and you customize ships, which puts it closer to GalCiv I think. I'm really liking it so far. The UI is gorgeous, too.

Have never played a 4x game before but I recently got into Civ V after it was on sale on Steam and this looks really cool. Will buy tonight.
