Enslaved's Pigsy DLC Will Have You Creating The Perfect Woman

Prior to the release of Ninja Theory's Enslaved, Namco Bandai said that the game's colorful and appropriately disgusting side character, the porcine Pigsy, would be given a starring role in a chunk of post-release downoadable content. Release details are still being carefully guarded, but the publisher has finally lifted the veil on what you'll be doing as the character in the optional $10 fling.

And a fling it is. In Pigsy's Perfect 10, as its called, you'll be tasked with assembling the perfect female companion from scraps of metal and debris found within the dreaded Titan Graveyard, an area that played a big role in the back half of Enslaved itself.

The word from Namco is that you won't be scurrying around this area like you did with Monkey. No, Pigsy's skill set is supposed to differ wildly from the game's main and rather fit protagonist. Instead of your arms, you'll be using Pigsy's hookshot, bombs, and other "various devices," such as the Trouble Vision eyepiece, to traverse stealthily through the graveyard. There will also be sharpshooting sections.

If you have a 3D-enabled HDTV (and who doesn't at this point, am I right?), you'll be able to "experience" this content in 3D courtesy of TriOviz technology. The three remaining standard HDTV owners on the planet will also be able to enjoy the DLC in all of its 3D glory later this fall when TriOviz's 3D eyeglasses hits stores. No word on price on these, if you were wondering.

Pigsy's Perfect 10 is still slated to be released at some point this year on the Xbox 360 and PS3

3d is so 2010. When's 4d coming?

#5 Posted by _Phara0h_ (889 posts) -

Wow I after finishing that section with him thought if they made a co-op section out of that it would suck to play piggy, so no thank you..

So glad it's story related DLC and not some terrible combat focused thing.

#7 Posted by KayinAmoh (11 posts) -

Excellent. Bought.

Sounds interesting.  A new game mechanic might spice things up a bit more.

Can't wait!

I'm tired of this 3D talk. Is it even a big deal in movies now? Seems like a lot of new theater releases are skipping 3D.

DLC sounds good though.

That's the wrong damn Pigsy in that link.

#14 Posted by zitosilva (1838 posts) -

Nah, I'll pass. Release something that will give the game a proper ending and I'll buy it.

#15 Posted by Undeadpool (4908 posts) -

If only I'd bought the game instead of renting it...

The ending was great. Not every game has be wrapped up with a tight little bow on top.

Yay, another Journey to the West (aka  Xī Yóu Jì) inspired character. They even gave him the right name . . . :)

Sounds like they're really trying to keep things original, I like that.

It is nice when yet another take on the Journey to the West occurs and they actually try to put in the right character types. :)

Ahhhh crap, just reading the title alone kinda spoiled the game for me in a way.
I just started playing last night, now I know that the characters I'll meet are exactly based on "Journey to the West"

and I'm Chinese so I pretty much see a movie base on it on a yearly bases

Sounds good, I'm up for more Enslaved. I actually found Pigsy to be a surprisingly charming character, and the story of this DLC totally sounds like some creepy business he would be up to. It'll be interesting to see how his new skill set plays out.

#24 Posted by MjHealy (1824 posts) -

I'm still on the fence about Enslaved. I am not a character-action fan but it just looks really interesting.

#25 Posted by Lazyaza (2167 posts) -

So I guess this is set before the main game then (anyone who finished it knows why).
Cant wait, Enslaved was awesome and Pigsy was hilarious.

I'm tired of all the 3D bashing. I understand you people love to hate on things, but isn't it time to move on to something else? Like, I dunno, Surround/Stereo sound?
"It makes my ears hurt! it adds nothing to the game to hear different things with both ears! I'm deaf on one ear so I can only hear mono anyway so stereo must die! It's just a gimmick to make people buy more speakers! You have to sit right in the middle of the room for it to work!"
Get over it.
#27 Posted by Turambar (6675 posts) -

Calling it now.  The DLC will end with Pigsy finding the perfect woman, casting a spell on himself that makes him look hot, and then give it all away when he gets drunk and the spell undoes itself.

So who is this game's Sha Wujing? aka The Guy Who Looks Cool But Is Really The Luggage Bearer.

#29 Posted by Davvyk (693 posts) -

The constant digs at 3d are getting really dull now. We know you are not fans. That's fine. Message received.

#30 Posted by catbusstop (19 posts) -

Damn, saw the screenshot without seing the title and got my hopes up for some Beyond Good & Evil 2 news - foolish I know :(

#31 Posted by rjayb89 (7717 posts) -

Damn it, gotta pull out my dusty 3D TV for this one.  Ever since we got holographic TVs things have never been easier.

#32 Posted by TheSeductiveMoose (3617 posts) -

This looks pretty great, might have to pick up Enslaved at some point.

TriOviz is the same 3D tech used in the Batman GOTY edition.

I still have to find time to rent Enslaved and play it but glad they're supporting the game post-release.
#35 Posted by Kenshiro28 (73 posts) -

I don't even have an HD tv.

The ending to the game was great totally out of left field i loved it great game!

@TheSeductiveMoose: Do yourself a favor, go grab it now.
#38 Posted by Rowr (5479 posts) -

is this like monkey magic the game?

#39 Posted by MisfitToy (126 posts) -

Nice.  I really want to get this game and having a 3DTV I have even more incentive.  3D movies aren't all that great, but 3D gaming is fun.

#40 Posted by Cudi_PL (4 posts) -

Looks good for me but first i must buy Enslaved :)

#41 Posted by President_Barackbar (3434 posts) -

Making the perfect woman? Broken pieces, pots and pans, why don't people understand, my intention?

#42 Posted by ObiKwiet (126 posts) -

Playing as Pigsy doesn't sound all that exciting to me.

Dude, calm down. I'm not "3D bashing." I'm saying that *I* am tired of 3D. If you like it then please feel free to post about how much you love it. Also, comparing 3D to surround or stereo is silly. (In Summary: MY OPINION.)

I don't see how it is. The concept is exactly the same. Stereo hearing and stereo vision.
Also I'm not blaming you specifically. I just said I'm tired of people complaining about it in general.
#45 Posted by SethPhotopoulos (5108 posts) -

That sounds fantastic.

#46 Posted by ZoRzEr (130 posts) -

Anyone else notice the stab the game took at 3D TVs ? On the bridge ?

I don't like wearing glasses and I don't have to wear special glasses to listen to surround. I know it takes more speakers, but I don't have to strap them to my head. I also don't get a headache from prolonged exposure to my stereo. If the tech were better I would probably be more interested in it, but it isn't there for me to get invested in it yet.

You might not be blaming me for your comment, but you did quote my post and singled me out in the process. I didn't take it personal though, so don't sweat it.
#48 Posted by Shimakaze (166 posts) -

Well, wearing glasses is no different from wearing headphones. And if you don't you have to be seated in the perfect center to hear the sound properly, not to mention good speakers are really expensive. Also, what's wrong with glasses? Millions of people wear glasses every day.
Not everyone gets headaches from watching 3d stuff (I don't), but many people get headaches from loud noises too. Especially when they come from different places. (different phases) But I wouldn't suggest games and movies should stop supporting surround because of that.

I didn't intend to single you out. It was just a good post to comment. Very quotable ;)

DLC is out. Bought it. Can't play it for 14 hours, so all I can say is the DL size is about 1.5 gigs.

#50 Posted by HarlequinRiot (1098 posts) -

Does anyone but me think the Pigsy model looks amazing? For some reason, to me, he looks way better than Trip or Monkey. Something about the detail and texture work look really good. Just an odd thing I noticed, that a side character looked better than the 2 main ones.
