Enslaved: Odyssey to the West is an action adventure game developed by Ninja Theory and published by Namco-Bandai. A very loose retelling of "Journey to the West," Enslaved follows the story of Monkey and Trip as they attempt to cross a post-apocalyptic Planet Earth.
I hate her. She sets the ship to explode and doesn't help him out of his cell. You try to find a way out and ask her to wait or open the door for him she decides to leave him to die. You crawl over the entire ship looking for an escape pod, she launches herself out of the last escape pod with him on the front of it (Although I guess she had no other choice). Then you crash and pass out from the traumatic experience only to wake up with a slave band on your forehead getting shocked and in pain because you get pissed off at the fact that she constantly left you to die and that she made you her slave. Fuck her, in every sense of the word.
How do you feel about her character or all the characters overall that you have seen in the stuff released about the game?
Far too early to judge her character given that we don't know her motivations or anything about her yet beyond the fact she can't return home without Monkey's experience at survival and combat.

I assumed that she would redeem herself in the game given in the quicklook Monkey seemed to have warmed up to her. But first impressions of her aren't good.
@TaliciaDragonsong: It's not a strike against the game. It's just an observation I made from the demo/ maybe opening level to the game? It seems like "God she's a bitch now but in a few hours you'll love her." type of deal.
@SethPhotopoulos: I have not even played the demo, but from what I gathered you're supposed to hate her at first, so far that seems to be correct =P T'was all I'm saying!
Here's how this situation would work itself out in reality. He wakes up, realizes what's happened, wraps his hands around her neck, tells her to release the collar or they both die, collar is released, he deserts her, she ends up dead within hours.
Then again, I haven't played the demo, so I don't know if this collar is supposed to be strong enough to prevent him from getting this close to her or not. ...Or maybe he's not as suicidal as I'd think.
The fact that you care about Monkey that much already, and despise the female character so much tc, speaks volumes to the emotions these characters display, and the strength of storytelling in this game, and even just the demo. Very intriguing, no?

She activates it by speech. In fact he tried to after finding out what happened but she told him to stay and move away from her and it forced his body to do those actions.

I liked the demo, lots of cool moments, but I think it is really retarded that she leaves him to die multiple times and then decides she needs his help.

He tries but the collar forces him to stay away from her.

She leaves him to die then realises she can use him after he survives carnage. He is exactly what she needs.
@SethPhotopoulos: From what I've gathered that's entirely the point of the story. She is self-centred (and Monkey has his own his own faults, too) but these aspects will play some part in the development of their relationship.
Characterisation/development, mate. Its a part of good writing.

I wasn't knocking it. In fact it seems like she will be redeemed by her actions before the game was over. I'm just saying for now she's a bitch until I get the game and see where it turns out (most likely romance).

I have to admit I'm in the same boat. I don't all out hate her but I'm pretty ticked that she about left him to die, THEN makes him do what she says. Poor dude.
I played the demo as well. I really liked the girl. I honestly thought she was one of the most beautiful videogame characters I've seen. Ninja Theory is very good at facial animations and projecting emotions through those animations.
That aside, Monkey is an escaped prisoner (albeit on a slave ship) who looks absolutely insane - though from the player's perspective, I thought he looked crazy in a good way. If I was her, I would have fucking shackled him too.

I didn't say she wasn't pretty. But I tend to dislike the person who leaves me to die multiple times then makes me that person's bitch.
@DrPockets000: From the quicklook it looks like she can handle her own and in fact distract the enemy. The "I'm slipping" part is annoying from the looks of it though.
@SethPhotopoulos: When he was looking through the porthole at her, he looked deranged. Then, this same hulking guy jumps onto the outside of the goddamn escape pod. I'm not disagreeing with you that he looked panicked, but I argue probably from her perspective he seemed a tad...touched.
But whatever man, you didn't like her and I did. No biggie. It's kind of cool that the demo elicits this kind of debate.

When ever i get money is the day from me. I play through the eyes of the player controlled character and try to see things from his view so when I look back I remember it like I was him. It seems you'll like her later on regardless.
