    Dominix
    Ishtar

    Cynosural Field Theory

    Armageddon
    Sentinel

Bans are handled 1-2-2-1: Dominix - Armageddon - Sentinel - Ishtar. AMT clearly banned out sentry drone compositions. Their comp is designed to handle marauders extremely effectively. CFT, to their credit, recognized this and gambled on an Armageddon ban to reduce the effects of cap warfare. Under the current meta, a cap warfare match would have been an excellent counter to marauder based teams.

    Pre-Match

AMT warped at 40km range to the beacon. CFT warped directly to the beacon. AMT expected a close range comp to fight against, so warping at range gave them room to organize their battlefield.

    Match

AMT begins the match by holding formation and slowly moving away from the beacon. CFT takes the initiative and sends three Daredevils ahead of the group to intercept the other team while the Vindicator and cruisers tail them.

Once the Daredevils begin their approach, the AMT frigates split from the rest of the group and from this moment forward operate as a separate group. One of the Enyos MWDs across the arena to tackle the Vindicator. This effectively splits the attack of CFT. The Astartes came with a complement of armor repair drones, which essentially allowed the lone Enyo to engage the Vindicator freely. The Daredevils continue away from the Vindicator, engaging the AMT cruiser wing.

The CFT cruisers momentarily attempt to attack the tackling Enyos, but quickly disengage to aid the Daredevils attacking the AMT cruisers. At this point two critical mistakes are made by CFT. A Daredevil orbits out of the arena, followed closely by a Thorax. AMT pilots had skirted the edge fairly sharply and allowed the enemy ships to orbit them out of the arena. As this engagement happens, the AMT control ships lock down the daredevils with jams. The Celestis damped out the Vindicator, forcing it to ineffectively attack the assault frigates.

As the frigates and cruisers are destroyed, AMT increases their control of the zone with energy neutralizers, effectively eliminating the Scimitar from the match. The match snowballs and ends in a clean sweep.

    Additional Commentary

Position. AMT dictated positioning with its piloting brilliantly in this match. Splitting the enemy team allowed AMT to deal with only a portion of the ships at a time. Once CFT was spread across the field you could definitely see how the control ships were integral to the comp. The Vindicator sitting 40-50km from the rest of the team was rendered impotent from the damps while it was held there with the webs. The Daredevils were jammed, which prevented them from applying webs for the cruisers to DPS. AMT did not need to battle at 120km from the beacon, but it added an additional layer of complexity to the match, awarding them two kills. Excellent execution led to a flawless victory.

I'm trying something a little different with this post. I'm not shying away from any jargon here. It's a high-level analysis of a tournament match in the most recent New Eden Open. It's meant to show how complex PVP can be in EVE. I hope to analyze a few more matches with the upcoming Alliance Tournament in August!
